Role Summary The Vibration Analyst Intern will support vibration monitoring, rotating-machinery studies, data collection, signal analysis, and basic fault-detection activities under the guidance of experienced engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in studying rotating equipment such as motors, pumps, fans, blowers, gearboxes, compressors,
conveyors, extruders, and bearings.
- Support identification of vibration measurement points, directions, sensor locations, and mounting methods.
- Assist with vibration sensor selection, ranges, sensitivity, frequency range, and sampling requirements.
- Collect and review vibration data including time waveforms and FFT/spectrum information.
- Calculate or interpret basic parameters such as RMS, Peak, Peak-to-Peak, Crest Factor, acceleration, velocity,
and displacement.
- Support machine baseline creation, trend analysis, frequency-band monitoring, and alarm-setting activities.
- Learn common vibration patterns associated with unbalance, misalignment, looseness, bearing defects, gear faults, resonance, and shaft/structural issues.
- Assist with correlating vibration information with RPM, load, temperature, current, pressure, and other process parameters.
- Support field measurements, signal validation, test activities, analysis reports, and maintenance observations.
Preferred Knowledge
- Mechanical vibration fundamentals
- Rotating machinery basics
- FFT and time-waveform fundamentals
- Vibration sensors and condition monitoring
- Basic signal processing and fault diagnosis
Qualification
Students or recent graduates pursuing/completing B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Instrumentation, or a related engineering field. ISO 18436 knowledge/certification is beneficial but not mandatory.
What the Intern Will Learn
Hands-on vibration measurement, FFT/time-waveform analysis, rotating-machinery diagnostics, condition monitoring, predictive-maintenance concepts, and field validation.
Travel Requirement
Should be open to customer/project-site visits for machine studies, vibration surveys, testing, and commissioning support when required.
How We Work at OSWAR/teck
We expect every team member, including interns, to learn and demonstrate:
- Ownership over activity
- Solutions over excuses
- Evidence over assumptions• Execution over intention
- Systems over dependency
- Speed with engineering discipline
- First-principles thinking
- Continuous improvement
Bring problems with proposed solutions. Communicate clearly. Document what you build. Challenge unnecessary complexity. Understand the fundamentals. Build things that work in the real world.
