Role Description The Veterinarian Surgeon will provide high-quality clinical and surgical care to companion animals and community animals, with a strong focus on sterilization (ABC) and anti-rabies vaccination programs. This full-time, on-site role based in Maharashtra, India involves performing routine and emergency surgeries, conducting pre- and post-operative examinations, and overseeing treatment and recovery protocols. The role includes diagnosing illnesses and injuries, prescribing medication, maintaining accurate medical records,



and ensuring adherence to animal welfare and infection control standards.

The Veterinarian

Surgeon will collaborate with veterinary staff, animal handlers, and outreach teams, contribute to training and capacity building, and support community awareness initiatives related to humane animal care and rabies prevention. Participation in on-ground rescue efforts, emergency response, and continuous improvement of clinical protocols is expected.

Qualifications

- Recognized veterinary degree (BVSc or equivalent) with valid registration to practice veterinary medicine in India.
- Proven experience in small animal surgery, including sterilization procedures, wound management, and emergency interventions.
- Robust clinical skills in diagnosis, treatment planning, and post-operative care for dogs, cats, and other companion or community animals.
- Knowledge of animal welfare laws, ethical clinical practices, and public health considerations related to rabies control.
- Ability to work in high-volume, field-oriented settings, including participation in outreach and ABC/ARV camps.
- Effective communication skills for working with multidisciplinary teams, training support staff, and engaging with community members.
- Commitment to compassionate care, resilience in challenging situations, and readiness to respond to emergencies on-site.
- Prior experience in an NGO, shelter, or animal welfare setting in India is an advantage; proficiency in local languages (e.g., Marathi or Hindi) is beneficial.
