About
Designday is a design and technology studio that combines design thinking with AI-powered workflows. We work across product research, UX/UI design, product strategy, digital experiences, and AI-led design tools. Alongside our services, we are building a structured product fro designers by studying digital experiences across globally popular applications, products, industries, and user journeys.
We are looking for UX/UI Design Interns who are curious about how digital products work not just how they look.
Role Description
We are hiring UX/UI Design Interns to help research, analyse, classify, and document user experiences from leading digital products across industries.
Your primary responsibility will be to understand how a mobile application is structured and correctly identify:
- Product domain and sub-domain
- User journeys and flows
- Individual screen types
- UX patterns and interaction models
- UI components used within each experience
- How one screen connects to the next within a complete user journey
You will be trained on our internal research methodology, taxonomy, documentation process, and UX benchmarking framework. This role is ideal for someone who wants to develop a strong understanding of real-world product UX across hundreds of digital products, rather than working only on theoretical design exercises.
What This Means in Practice For example, while analysing a fintech application:
Domain: Fintech
Sub-domain: Digital Banking
Flow: Customer Onboarding
Journey: Account Creation → Mobile Verification → KYC → Identity Verification → Account Setup
Screen: OTP Verification
Screen Purpose: Verify ownership of the registered mobile number
UX Patterns: OTP input, resend timer, autofill, error state, progress indication
Similarly, you should be able to differentiate between screens such as:
- Login vs Sign Up
- Product Discovery vs Search Results
- Cart vs Checkout
- Account Overview vs Transaction History
- KYC vs Personal Information
Developing this level of product understanding will be a major part of the internship.
Key Responsibilities
- Research globally popular mobile apps, web applications, SaaS platforms, and digital products
- Analyse complete user journeys and break them into structured UX flows
- Identify and classify individual screens within each flow
- Categorise products by industry, domain, sub-domain, platform, flow, screen type, and UX pattern
- Capture and organise reference screens from different digital products
- Study how leading products solve similar UX problems differently
- Document common UX patterns, interaction patterns, navigation models, and screen structures
- Identify reusable UI components such as forms, cards, filters, tables, navigation, search, authentication, onboarding, checkout, and dashboards
- Compare similar journeys across multiple products
- Follow internal naming conventions and UX taxonomy while updating the product library
- Maintain high accuracy and consistency while adding UX data
- Work closely with the product and design team to improve the quality of the UX library
- Flag unclear, unusual, or innovative UX patterns for further review
- Assist in expanding our UX benchmarking database across different industries
Key Skills We're Looking For
- Strong basic understanding of UX/UI and product design fundamentals
- Ability to understand how a digital product works beyond visual design
- Ability to identify user flows, screens, journeys, and interaction patterns
- Valuable understanding of common mobile and web application experiences
- Strong attention to detail and ability to classify information consistently
- Basic knowledge of UX concepts such as: User flows,Information architecture, Interaction design, Navigation, Forms, Empty, loading and error states etc.
- Working knowledge of Figma
- Curiosity about digital products and how leading applications are designed
- Ability to research independently and document findings clearly
Preferred Background
- Students or recent graduates in UX/UI Design, Product Design, Interaction Design, HCI, Graphic Design, Computer Science,
or related fields
- Candidates who regularly explore and analyse different apps and digital products
- Previous UX/UI coursework, internships, projects, or portfolio work is preferred
A strong portfolio is helpful, but for this role we care equally about how well you understand product experiences and user journeys.
What You Will Learn
This internship is designed as a hands-on UX learning programme.
- Gain exposure to global UX patterns, user flows, product structures, benchmarking, design systems, and AI-assisted UX research.
- Instead of studying a handful of portfolio projects, you will analyse UX patterns across a large number of real-world digital products.
What Success Looks Like
Accuracy, product understanding, consistency, and research speed will be more important than simply producing visually attractive UI.
What's in It for You?
- Structured UX Training: Learn how professional product teams analyse user journeys, UX patterns, screens, and interaction models.
- Exposure to Global Products: Study digital experiences from leading applications across multiple industries.
- Strong UX Foundation: Build an understanding of product UX that goes beyond UI styling and visual design.
- Product Research Experience: Gain hands-on experience in competitive research, UX benchmarking, taxonomy, and pattern analysis.
- AI + Design Exposure: Work alongside our team on AI-powered design and UX research workflows.
- Cross-Functional Learning: Work with UX designers, researchers, product teams, and engineers.
- Career Growth: High-performing interns may be considered for longer-term opportunities within Designday.
Why Join Designday?
At Designday, you won't just learn how to design another mobile screen.
You'll learn to understand digital products as systems—how screens connect, how journeys are structured, why certain UX patterns are used, and how leading products solve similar problems differently.
If you're naturally curious about apps, frequently notice how products work, and want to build a strong foundation in UX and product thinking, this internship will give you significant exposure to real-world digital experiences.
