Role Overview

We are seeking a software engineer to build and maintain the data and applications used by our proprietary trading desks. You will work alongside traders and analysts, understand their workflows first-hand, and develop reliable tools for market data, positions, P&L;, risk monitoring, and reporting.

This is a hands-on, high-ownership role in a small prop trading team. You will take projects from a loosely defined desk need through design, implementation, deployment, and ongoing support. The core of the role is software and data engineering for traders; there is also scope to improve workflows with AI tools where they are useful and reliable.

This position requires the ability to work during European market hours (12:00/1:00 PM to 9:00/10:00 PM IST) to align with global trading activity.

Key Responsibilities

Trading desk applications and automation

- Build Python applications and internal tools that help traders monitor markets, manage positions, and make timely decisions.
- Automate recurring workflows, including daily market reports, position and P&L; reports, report parsing, and email distribution.
- Integrate trading platforms, Excel-based workflows, and internal systems through APIs and scripts.
- Work directly with traders to turn desk requests into practical, maintainable software.

Data engineering and database management

- Design, build, and maintain cloud based databases for proprietary and fundamental data.




- Build and schedule ETL pipelines that pull data from exchanges, market-data vendor APIs, and third-party sources.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and availability through validation checks, monitoring, and alerting.

Dashboards and research tools

- Build interactive dashboards for positions, P&L;, risk, and market monitoring (e.g., Dash, Streamlit, Power BI).
- Develop internal tools and lightweight web apps requested by traders and analysts.
- Support research infrastructure, including back-testing frameworks and model deployment.
- Make trading and market data easy to inspect, query, and use in analysis.

Production ownership and emerging tools

- Maintain code repositories, documentation, tests, and deployment processes.
- Monitor and troubleshoot the applications and data pipelines used during trading hours.
- Build carefully scoped LLM-powered tools for research, document processing, and reporting, with appropriate validation of their outputs.
- Coordinate with external IT or infrastructure providers when an issue falls outside the desks applications.

Candidate Profile

Education

- Graduate or postgraduate degree from a top-tier institution.
- Preferred fields: Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology,



Data Science, or related disciplines.

Experience

- 1-4 years of hands-on experience in software development, data engineering, or automation; exceptional fresh graduates will be considered.
- Exposure to financial markets, trading, or fintech is a plus but not mandatory.
- Experience building software for users who depend on accurate, timely data is especially valuable.

Desired Skill Set

- Strong production Python skills, including pandas, NumPy, APIs, and automation libraries.
- Robust SQL and database design (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or similar); experience with time-series data is a plus.
- Dashboarding experience (Dash, Streamlit, Power BI, or similar).
- Working knowledge of APIs, web scraping, Git, Linux, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Experience writing tests, handling failures, and monitoring data pipelines or applications.
- Familiarity with Excel/VBA automation is a plus.
- Experience with LLM APIs or agent frameworks is a plus.
- Knowledge of trading workflows, market data, positions, or P&L; is a plus.
