Overall Purpose of The Job

OCL Oceanic Catering Limited (OCL) is undertaking several system enhancements and redesign in its core CMS system and various peripheral systems on a monthly basis. There are also many new ideas for further enhancements in an effort to establish OCL as a technological frontrunner in the maritime catering industry.

The Systems Developer will act as the technical liaison between OCL and external 3rd party developers, and will be communicating with the developers on a technical level. The end goal is to be in a better position to be providing to the developers team more detailed guidelines and documentation during the preparation of the requirements for any current development,



in an effort to avoid unnecessary changes in the system because of lack of initial detailed technical guidance and overview, and as a result, unnecessary details, revisions and extra costs.

The Systems Developer will also be responsible for the enhancement or development of various OCL peripheral systems and 3rd party interfaces with various external systems. Sample projects that have already earmarked for 2018 are: the redesign/enhancement of the Client Portal, the development of a Supplier’s Portal, the redesign of the existing mobile app for in-house usage from the superintendents, interfaces the CMS system with the various ERP systems of our suppliers, etc. The Systems developer will be providing to the developers the technical guidance on how we envision all these projects to be materialized, provide documentation and guidelines on the various interfaces, Web APIs, XML calls that will need to be developed, but at the same time, to develop some of these systems in-house, following the development cycle and reporting structures as per Group policies and ISD.

Key Responsibilities And Tasks

- Ensure that all detailed technical requirements are provided to the development team for system enhancements




- Participate in the weekly calls to discuss the progress of all the projects
- Maintain strict control on the effort quoted for and the costs of each projects
- Provide technical guidance and advice to the management of the team for new ideas, changes in the systems, etc.
- Visit on regular intervals and/or when needed, the offices of the developers or the ISD offices
- Actively support issue and risk resolution.
- Oversee the development of the CMS and ensure that it meets the Company’s requirements
- Provide support to OCL staff on systems related issues

Essential

- Bachelor’s and or Master’s degree in Computer Science
- 3 - 5 years’ Development experience.
- Strong understanding of business processes and existing systems within scope of the project.
- Confident communicator, willing to take a leading role in improving the business.
- Well respected amongst peers.
- Excellent team working skills: able to solve problems collaboratively.
- Structured, methodical approach.
- Experience of working on similar projects in the past an advantage.

Desirable

- Experience in hospitality and/or in catering industries
