Role Description The Student Counsellor role is a full time, on-site position based in Kozhikode.
The Student
Counsellor will guide prospective students through the entire study abroad journey, from initial enquiry to post-admission support. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting one-on-one counselling sessions, understanding academic backgrounds and career goals, and recommending suitable countries, universities, and programs. The role involves assisting with application documentation,
coordinating with admissions teams, and supporting students with visa procedures and interview preparation.
The Student
Counsellor will also maintain accurate records in internal systems, follow up with leads, collaborate with marketing and operations teams, and participate in seminars or events to promote Sterling’s services.
Qualifications
- Strong counselling and advisory skills, with the ability to understand student needs and suggest appropriate academic pathways.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including clear spoken and written English and the ability to build trust with students and families.
- Organizational and administrative abilities, such as maintaining records, managing applications, and handling multiple student cases simultaneously.
- Basic knowledge of international education systems, admission processes, and visa procedures for major study destinations, or a willingness to learn quickly.
- Proficiency in using computers and common office software, with comfort working with CRM or student management tools.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and adapt in a dynamic, target-driven environment.
- Prior experience in student counselling, education consulting, or customer-facing roles is an advantage.
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline; a background in education, counselling, psychology, or business is preferred.
