– Site Safety Officer
Position: Site Safety Officer
Department: EHS / Safety
Location: Factory / Project Site
Reporting To: EHS Manager / Plant Head
Experience: 3–6 Years
Industry Preference: Manufacturing / Engineering / Construction / Industrial Projects
- Job Purpose To ensure a safe and compliant workplace by implementing EHS policies, monitoring site safety practices, identifying and controlling hazards, conducting inspections and training, and ensuring compliance with applicable statutory and company safety requirements.
- Key ResponsibilitiesA. Safety Operations & Compliance
- Implement company EHS policies, procedures, and safety standards at the site.
- Conduct regular workplace/site inspections and identify unsafe acts and unsafe conditions.
- Ensure timely closure of safety observations and corrective actions.
- Monitor compliance with PPE requirements, protected work practices, and safety procedures.
- Maintain required safety records, registers, checklists, and reports.
- Support compliance with applicable Factories Act, Rules, and other statutory EHS requirements.
B. Risk Assessment & Hazard Control
- Conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Risk Assessments, and Safe Work Method Statements where required.
- Identify hazards related to machinery, electrical work, welding, cutting, material handling, working at height, lifting activities, chemicals, and other site activities.
- Recommend and implement appropriate control measures.
- Monitor high-risk activities and ensure necessary permits and precautions are in place.
C. Safety Training & Awareness
- Conduct safety induction for new employees, contract workers, visitors, and trainees.
- Conduct toolbox talks and regular safety awareness programs.
- Coordinate training on PPE, fire safety,
emergency response, safe material handling, electrical safety, working at height, and other relevant topics.
- Promote a positive safety culture across employees and contractors.
D. Incident Management
- Immediately respond to workplace incidents, near misses, and unsafe occurrences.
- Assist in incident investigation and identify root causes.
- Prepare incident reports and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Track implementation and closure of CAPA.
E. Emergency Preparedness
- Ensure emergency response procedures are implemented and communicated.
- Coordinate fire drills, emergency mock drills, evacuation drills, and other safety exercises.
- Inspect fire extinguishers, fire hydrants, emergency exits, alarms, first-aid facilities, and other emergency equipment.
- Ensure emergency exits and access routes remain clear and accessible.
F. Contractor & Site Safety
- Monitor contractor safety compliance and work practices.
- Ensure contractors complete safety induction before commencing work.
- Verify required PPE, work permits, equipment safety, and competency requirements.
- Conduct periodic contractor safety audits and follow up on observations.
G. Safety Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare daily/weekly/monthly safety reports.
- Maintain records of inspections, incidents, near misses, training, toolbox talks, permits, and corrective actions.
- Monitor safety KPIs and share periodic reports with the EHS Manager / Plant Head.
- Support internal, customer, and statutory safety audits.
3. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Reduction in unsafe acts and unsafe conditions.
- Timely closure of safety observations and CAPA.
- Compliance with PPE and safety procedures.
- Number and quality of safety inspections conducted.
- Safety training and toolbox talk coverage.
- Contractor safety compliance.
- Incident and near-miss reporting and investigation.
- Emergency drill completion and compliance.
- Statutory and audit compliance.
4. Qualification
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Safety, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or related discipline.
- Diploma / Degree in Industrial Safety will be preferred.
- Relevant Safety certifications will be an advantage.
5. Required Skills & Competencies
- Valuable knowledge of industrial safety practices and EHS requirements.
- Risk identification and assessment.
- Incident investigation and root-cause analysis.
- Good communication and training skills.
- Ability to work with employees, contractors, and cross-functional teams.
- Good documentation and reporting skills.
- Proactive approach towards hazard identification and prevention.
- Basic knowledge of MS Office / Excel.
6. Preferred Experience
Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, engineering, sheet-metal, welding, machining, DG/genset, or industrial project environments will be preferred.
Language: Kannada and English communication skills preferred; Hin
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
