Senior Python Backend Engineer / Technical Lead

Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior Python Backend Engineer / Technical Lead to join our engineering team. This role is ideal for a passionate backend engineer who enjoys building scalable distributed systems, leveraging AI technologies, and mentoring engineering teams while driving technical excellence.

Role Overview

As a Senior Python Backend Engineer / Technical Lead, you will be responsible for designing and developing scalable backend applications, architecting distributed systems,

integrating AI/ML capabilities, and delivering high-quality software solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to build cloud-native, high-performance applications while contributing to architecture, engineering best practices, and technical leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Backend Development & Architecture

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Python and

FastAPI.
- Build secure, high-performance REST APIs and microservices.
- Design reusable, maintainable, and scalable software components.
- Participate in architecture discussions and technical design reviews.
- Improve application performance, scalability, reliability, and security.
- Design fault-tolerant distributed systems for enterprise-scale applications.

AI/ML & Intelligent Systems
- Integrate AI/ML models into production applications.
- Build APIs and backend services for AI-powered solutions.
- Work with LLMs, embeddings, vector databases, and Retrieval-Augmented

Generation (RAG) architectures
- Collaborate with Data Science and AI teams to deploy, optimize, and monitor AI

workloads.
- Evaluate AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity.





Database & Data Engineering
- Design efficient database schemas and optimize data access patterns.
- Write highly optimized SQL queries for large datasets.
- Optimize database performance through indexing, partitioning, and query tuning.
- Work extensively with PostgreSQL and Snowflake.

Platform Engineering & Microservices
- Design and implement microservices-based applications.
- Build asynchronous and event-driven processing systems.
- Develop service integrations and RESTful APIs.
- Implement observability through logging, monitoring, and alerting.
- Contribute to CI/CD automation and deployment processes.

Leadership & Collaboration
- Conduct code reviews andestablish engineering best practices.
- Mentor junior engineers and support technical growth within the team.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, QA teams, and business stakeholders

to deliver high-quality solutions. Required Skills & Experience

Experience

- 6–8 years of professional software development experience.
- Strong expertise in backend application development using Python.
- Hands-on experience with FastAPI and modern API development.
- Experience building scalable, high-throughput backend systems.
- Robust understanding of asynchronous programming and concurrency.

Software Architecture
- Experience designing scalable distributed systems.




- Strong understanding of software architecture and design patterns.
- Hands-on experience with microservices architecture.
- Knowledge of caching, resiliency, scalability, and performance optimization.

AI/ML
- Experience integrating AI/ML models into production applications.
- Good understanding of LLMs, Prompt Engineering, Embeddings, Vector

Databases, and RAG architectures.
- Experience exposing AI capabilities through APIs.
- Familiarity with AI development frameworks and model deployment.

Databases
- Advanced expertise in PostgreSQL.
- Strong experience with Snowflake.
- Strong SQL optimization and database performance tuning skills.

DevOps & Engineering Practices
- Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Understanding of cloud-native application deployment.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Experience with workflow orchestration platforms.
- Knowledge of Kafka or other event-streaming technologies.
- Experience building data-intensive platforms.
- Exposure to MLOps and AI model lifecycle management.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Prior experience leading technical teams or mentoring engineers.
