Senior Product Analyst - Operational Controlling

About the Role:

Support the Product Owner by acting as the senior functional bridge between FP&A; and Finance stakeholders and SAP Chapter delivery teams for the Operational Controlling scope. The role protects and evolves the SAP Controlling core model by independently challenging and validating functional designs, configuration decisions, integrations, testing and deployment deliverables. It addresses the current internal capability gap by bringing practical SAP Controlling expertise into the Product Team, retaining critical knowledge internally and reducing dependency on a single external expert.

This is an L8 role because it requires experienced judgement, autonomy and the ability to validate complex work with global, cross-process and financial-performance impact.

Technical Skills Required

Total experience: 7+ years in SAP Controlling delivery, functional consulting, Finance transformation or product roles.

Relevant experience: Minimum 5 years of hands-on SAP Controlling experience across implementation, integration, core-model design or deployment activities, including experience challenging and validating configuration and solution deliverables.

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Controlling, Accounting, Information Systems, Business, Engineering or a related discipline.

Certifications (if any): SAP Controlling or S/4HANA Finance certification is an advantage. Business analysis, product management or Agile certification is also valuable, but not mandatory

Must Have

- Minimum 5 years of hands-on SAP Controlling experience gained through implementation, integration, core-model design or deployment projects, not only theoretical knowledge or support coordination.
- Strong SAP CO functional and configuration background, with practical expertise in several of the following areas : CO-PA , Material Ledger and actual costing , Product Cost Controlling, Cost Centre Accounting, Profit Centre Accounting, internal orders and allocations.




- Strong understanding of operational controlling and FP&A; processes, including actual profitability, margin analysis, costing, allocations, closing and management reporting dependencies.
- Proven ability to review, challenge and validate functional designs, configuration choices, integration decisions, test evidence and deployment deliverables produced by internal or external teams.
- Experience translating complex Controlling requirements into functional solutions and explaining solution constraints, impacts and trade-offs to Finance stakeholders.
- Experience identifying end-to-end dependencies across SAP CO, FI, MM, PP, SD, master data and reporting or analytics solutions.
- Ability to work autonomously, make recommendations, escalate material risks and act as a credible functional authority without formal hierarchical authority.
- Strong stakeholder management, facilitation, coaching, structured problem solving and transparent written and verbal communication.

Good to Have

- Deep knowledge of a global SAP Finance or Controlling core model.
- SAP S/4HANA Finance or Central Finance exposure.
- Experience with COPA/Material Ledger audit, performance diagnosis, closing issues or data-flow reconciliation.
- Experience with FP&A;, profitability reporting, planning, forecasting or downstream enterprise-performance-management and analytics solutions.
- Experience in global core-model governance, design authority or multi-country deployment environments.
- SAP Controlling, S/4HANA Finance, business analysis, product management or Agile certification.

Key Responsibilities

Core responsibilities

- Act as the senior SAP Controlling functional reference within the Operational Controlling squad, working with the Senior Product Owner, Product Owner, FP&A; and Controlling stakeholders, Product Analysts and delivery partners.
- Protect, maintain and evolve the SAP Controlling core model, ensuring that proposed changes remain coherent, reusable and aligned with global design principles.




- Translate complex controlling and profitability-management needs into clear functional requirements, product artefacts, solution options and acceptance criteria.
- Review and challenge functional designs, configuration choices and solution proposals across SAP CO, including profitability analysis, Material Ledger, product costing, cost centre accounting and profit centre accounting.
- Assess impacts and dependencies across SAP Finance, master data, source transactions, allocations, actual costing, reporting and downstream FP&A; or analytics solutions.
- Recommend functional solutions and trade-offs to the Product Owner, making risks, constraints and core-model implications explicit.

Delivery / operational responsibilities

- Guide and validate work performed by internal delivery teams, AMS providers, system integrators and external SAP Controlling experts throughout design, build, testing, deployment and stabilisation.
- Review functional specifications, configuration rationale, integration design, test scenarios, test evidence, cutover inputs and deployment deliverables.
- Lead or support complex incident and problem analysis, especially where issues affect closing, allocations, costing, profitability data, Material Ledger or Controlling-to-reporting flows.
- Identify root causes, functional dependencies and sustainable corrective actions rather than relying only on short-term fixes.
- Maintain critical SAP Controlling knowledge, design decisions, configuration rationale and product documentation within the internal Product Team.
- Contribute to product performance, continuous improvement, automation and simplification opportunities across the Operational Controlling scope.

Stakeholder & collaboration responsibilities

- Act as a credible bridge between FP&A; and Finance business stakeholders, the Senior Product Owner, squad Product Owner, Product Analysts, other IT&DATA; product teams, in particular Finance Accounting teams, Data & Analytics teams, architecture, AMS and external partners.
- Facilitate functional design, impact-assessment and problem-solving sessions and drive alignment where decisions affect multiple processes, systems, entities or geographies.
- Coach Product Analysts and other product members to strengthen SAP Controlling knowledge and reduce key-person dependency.
- Resolve day-to-day functional topics autonomously within agreed product guardrails and escalate only material risks, design exceptions or product-level decisions.
