Role Overview
Yoda Tech is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Execution System (MES) Consultant to establish standardized processes, configuration guidelines, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for onboarding new clients, projects, and products into its homegrown MES.
The Consultant will work with manufacturing, engineering, quality, operations, and IT teams to understand the existing system and translate business requirements into repeatable configuration and onboarding procedures. The role requires hands-on MES implementation experience, manufacturing process knowledge, and solid process documentation skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess the existing MES functionality, configuration model, onboarding practices, and supporting documentation.
- Map the onboarding journey from initial requirements gathering through configuration, testing, approval, production launch, and operational handover.
- Define separate onboarding procedures for new clients, projects, and products, including dependencies, mandatory inputs, ownership, and approval checkpoints.
- Establish configuration guidelines for relevant MES elements, including customer and product master data, manufacturing routes, process steps, workstations, equipment, work instructions, quality checks, and traceability requirements.
- Document how customer-specific requirements—such as serialization, labeling, reporting, access permissions, and data segregation—should be evaluated and configured where supported.
- Define how existing configurations can be reused and how exceptions or requirements needing system enhancements should be assessed and escalated.
- Develop SOPs, configuration work instructions, onboarding checklists,
requirements templates, and a responsibility matrix.
- Establish controls for configuration changes, version management, approvals, release readiness, and rollback or recovery.
- Identify dependencies on ERP, PLM, equipment interfaces, and other connected systems, and coordinate with the relevant technical teams.
- Prepare functional test scenarios and support configuration validation, user acceptance testing, and production readiness reviews.
- Validate the procedures through representative onboarding cases and refine them based on feedback.
- Train configuration administrators and operational teams, and complete knowledge transfer to designated process owners.
Required Experience and Skills
- Typically 7–10+ years of experience in MES implementation, manufacturing systems consulting, or manufacturing process engineering, with substantial hands-on MES configuration experience.
- Proven experience onboarding new customers, manufacturing programs, or products into an MES.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing workflows, production routing, work-in-progress tracking, quality controls, genealogy, and traceability.
- Demonstrated ability to create practical SOPs, process maps, configuration guides, and operational documentation.
- Experience gathering requirements and translating them into functional specifications and system configurations.
- Understanding of master-data governance, integration dependencies, access controls, testing, and configuration change management.
- Ability to learn a proprietary MES through system walkthroughs, existing documentation, and discussions with business and technical teams.
- Strong stakeholder management, workshop facilitation, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in electronics manufacturing or contract manufacturing.
- Exposure to multiple manufacturing sites and customer-specific production requirements.
- Experience with homegrown or heavily customized MES platforms.
- Familiarity with ISA-95 concepts and MES integration with ERP and PLM systems.
- Working knowledge of SQL and data analysis for configuration validation and troubleshooting.
Expected Deliverables
- Current-state assessment and onboarding gap analysis.
- Standard onboarding process maps for clients, projects, and products.
- Configuration standards, templates, and reusable checklists.
- SOPs and detailed configuration work instructions.
- Roles, responsibilities, approval workflows, and exception procedures.
- Test scenarios and production readiness criteria.
- Pilot validation findings and updated documentation.
- Training materials and completed operational handover.
Success Criteria The engagement should enable clients designated teams to onboard new clients, projects, and products consistently, with clear ownership, validated configurations, fewer errors and rework, and reduced dependence on individual system experts.
