The Structural Engineer is responsible for inspection, quality control, and technical supervision of all civil structures on a highway project — including box culverts, RRM (Random Rubble Masonry) works, minor bridges, RCC drains, and breast and retaining walls. The role ensures that all structures are executed as per MoRTH specifications, approved drawings, and contract provisions.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Drawing Review

- Study and interpret GAD (General Arrangement Drawings), structural drawings, and hydraulic design reports for all assigned structures.
- Verify structure locations, invert levels, vent sizes, and skew angles against survey data and DPR.
- Flag design discrepancies to the Design Engineer / DPR consultant before construction begins.

Construction Supervision

- Supervise setting-out, foundation excavation, and sub-surface conditions for each structure.
- Monitor staging, shuttering/formwork, reinforcement placement, and concreting operations.
- Ensure cement, aggregates, water, and admixtures meet MoRTH Clause specifications and approved mix designs.
- Control concrete placement, compaction, and curing as per IS 456 and contract requirements.
- Supervise RRM coursing, mortar mix, and bedding for masonry structures.





Quality Control & Testing

- Conduct or witness all field and laboratory tests: cube strength, slump, water permeability, core extraction, and NDT (rebound hammer / UPV) where required.
- Maintain test registers, pour records, and inspection reports for each structure.
- Ensure compliance with MoRTH IRC codes and contract Quality Control Plan (QCP).

Measurement & Billing

- Prepare structure-wise measurements (earthwork, concrete, RRM, reinforcement) for Running Account Bills.
- Verify BOQ items against actual executed work and draw up item-wise quantity statements.
- Coordinate with Survey Engineer for cross-sections at culvert approaches.

Documentation & Reporting

- Maintain Structure Register with as-built data: chainage, type, span, date of casting, and dates of form removal and backfilling.
- Prepare daily progress reports and flag quality non-conformances (NCRs) in time.
- Submit monthly structure progress to Project Manager / Authority Engineer.

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹55,000.00 per month
