Position Manager – Estimation (Doors & Windows) Location Delhi/Mumbai/Bengaluru
Team CPT Reporting To Business Head – CPT
Role Purpose
- Lead the estimation and costing function for the Doors & Windows business, delivering accurate, competitive and timely estimates, BOQs and techno-commercial offers for uPVC and aluminium doors & windows across retail, B2B and large project enquiries.
- Own the complete pre-order cycle from enquiry receipt, drawing/tender study and quantity take-off to system selection, costing, pricing and submission, ensuring every bid protects target margins and is technically sound.
- Act as the key interface between Sales, Design/Technical, Procurement, Production and Project Execution to improve win-rates, reduce estimation errors and ensure a clean handover of won orders to execution.
Qualification B.E./B.Tech (Civil / Mechanical) or B.Arch; Diploma in Civil/Mechanical Engineering with solid relevant experience may be considered. MBA / PG in Construction Management is an advantage. Experience 7–10 years in estimation, costing and tendering in the doors & windows / fenestration / façade industry (uPVC, aluminium, glass & hardware), including at least 3–4 years leading a team of estimators.
Tools & Systems AutoCAD (mandatory); window/façade estimation and fabrication software (e.g. LogiKal, Orgadata, WinDesign, Joinery or similar); advanced MS Excel; ERP / SAP (SD/MM) exposure; working knowledge of BIM/Revit desirable.
Key Responsibilities
Enquiry Management & Tender Review
- Receive, register and prioritise enquiries/tenders from Sales, architects, builders, contractors and channel partners; maintain the enquiry and bid register.
- Study architectural drawings, window schedules, BOQs, specifications and tender conditions; identify scope, exclusions, ambiguities and risks.
- Raise and close technical/commercial clarifications (RFIs) with customers and Sales before submission.
- Plan estimation workload and turnaround time to meet tender and customer submission deadlines.
Quantity Take-off & Technical Evaluation
- Prepare accurate quantity take-offs, window/door schedules and material breakdowns (profiles, reinforcement, glass, hardware, sealants, accessories).
- Select and finalise the appropriate systems, typologies and profiles based on size, wind load, thermal, acoustic, safety and aesthetic requirements, in coordination with the Design/Technical team.
- Validate glass specifications (thickness, performance, safety/IGU configuration)
and hardware selection against project needs and applicable codes/standards.
- Identify and reconcile discrepancies between measured quantities and customer/tender BOQs.
Costing, Pricing & Proposal Submission
- Build detailed cost sheets covering material, fabrication, glazing, installation, logistics, overheads, contingencies and taxes.
- Recommend pricing in line with the approved pricing policy and margin guidelines; obtain approvals for deviations as per the Delegation of Authority.
- Prepare and submit techno-commercial offers, compliance statements, technical submittals, prequalification documents and sample/material boards.
- Support Sales in customer negotiations, price revisions and final commercial closure; maintain version control of all offers.
Value Engineering & Cost Optimisation
- Propose value-engineering and alternate system options to meet customer budgets without compromising performance or margin.
- Maintain and periodically update the standard cost database, rate library and costing templates for all product lines.
- Track material price movements (aluminium, uPVC compound, glass, hardware) and update costing norms, wastage factors and productivity assumptions.
- Benchmark competitor pricing and share market intelligence with the Business Head and Sales.
Order Handover & Cross-functional Coordination
- Ensure structured handover of won orders to Project Execution / Production with final BOQ, costing basis, approved drawings and commercial terms.
- Coordinate with Procurement on vendor rates, lead times and availability of critical materials and hardware.
- Review variations, change orders and additional-scope quotations during execution.
- Conduct post-order estimated-vs-actual cost reviews and feed learnings back into costing norms.
Team Leadership, Governance & MIS
- Lead, guide and develop the estimation team; allocate enquiries, review estimates and ensure quality checks before submission.
- Define and implement estimation SOPs, checklists, templates and approval workflows.
- Publish weekly/monthly MIS on enquiries received, bids submitted, turnaround time, hit-rate, order value and margin.
- Drive digitisation of estimation (software, ERP integration,
standard libraries) to improve speed and accuracy.
