: Senior Highway & Pavement Construction Engineer
Required Qualifications & Technical Skills
- Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
- Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in highway construction, flexible/rigid pavement execution, or heavy infrastructure projects. (Must)
- Instrumentation & Software: High proficiency in operating Total Station, Auto-Level, AutoCAD, and MS Office (Excel for measurement sheets).
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of pavement layer depth calculations, compaction mechanics, concrete mix behavior, and aggregate gradations.
- Site Management: Proven ability to manage subcontractors, resolve field challenges, and coordinate heavy machinery operations (graders, rollers, slipform pavers).
Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Highway & Pavement Engineer to lead on-site execution, material quality control, and field operations for major highway, pavement, and municipal infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will possess a robust mix of technical civil engineering knowledge, hands-on survey capabilities, and subcontractor billing management skills to ensure timely delivery and strict compliance with alignment and structural standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Site Execution & Technical Supervision
Supervise day-to-day operations for flexible and rigid pavement construction, including granular layers (WBM/WMM), bituminous macadam, and paver block installations. Oversee slipform paving operations, groove cutting schedules,
and joint sealing for concrete road stretches.
Conduct precise structural and alignment surveys using Total Stations, auto-levels, and digital measuring tools to ensure strict adherence to design profiles and grades.
1. Quality Assurance & Material Optimization
Coordinate with batching plants and aggregate crushers to monitor mix designs, volumetric properties, and material gradations (aggregates, crush sand, and superplasticizer admixtures). Conduct field quality tests including compaction factors, field density tests, trial cube casting, and slump tests.
Ensure compliance with MoRTH, IRC, and municipal development standards across all structural and paving layers.
1. Subcontractor Management & Billing
Track section measurements, calculate area coverage, and verify daily progress sheets for specialized labor crews (paver block fitting, formwork, and groove cutting). Prepare, verify, and process subcontractor running account (R.A.) bills and measurement books (MB) in alignment with site execution schedules.
Manage labor gang mobilization and resource allocation across multiple active road work zones and retaining/drainage structures.
1. Project Planning & Quantity Surveying
Perform quantity estimations, material consumption tracking, and density verification to control wastage and project yield. Maintain daily site logs, structural measurement sheets, and lift-by-lift execution records.
Work closely with project leadership to align site delivery with broader company financial and completion timelines.
