Job Title: Senior Career Counsellor
Department: Career Counselling & University Guidance
Reporting Supervisor: Head – Career Counselling & University Guidance, GSG
Location: Noida/Gurgaon/Bangalore
Job Purpose
At Global Schools Group we are seeking an experienced Senior Career Counsellor to join the Central Career Counselling & University Guidance team. The role will be responsible for supporting the Group-wide implementation and delivery of a structured and consistent Career Counselling framework programme for students in Grades 8–10 across GSG schools. The incumbent will work closely with school-based counsellors, school leadership, students, parents and other relevant stakeholders to enable students to understand their strengths, interests, aspirations and make informed academic, subject and career choices.
In addition to direct student counselling, the role will contribute to counsellor capability building, development of standardised resources and tools, program governance, student outcome tracking and implementation of career guidance initiatives across the GSG network.
Key Responsibilities
Career Counselling & Student Guidance
- Deliver and support a structured career guidance program for students in Grades 8–10 across GSG schools.
- Conduct and Facilitate psychometric and aptitude assessments to help students identify their strengths, interests, abilities and career preferences.
- Provide one-to-one career counselling to students and parents across the GSG school network.
- Interpret psychometric and aptitude assessment outcomes and translate them into meaningful academic and career guidance.
- Guide students in identifying suitable career pathways and corresponding subject/stream choices aligned with their interests, aptitude and aspirations.
- Recommend relevant activities, projects, competitions, courses and other developmental opportunities that help students explore their interests and progressively build their profiles.
- Help students understand emerging career opportunities, evolving industries and the skills required for future academic and professional pathways.
Group-wide Program Implementation
- Support the design, implementation and continuous improvement of a standardised Career Counselling framework for Grades 8–10 across GSG schools.
- Work closely with school principals, coordinators and counsellors to ensure effective implementation of the Group's Career Counselling program.
- Ensure consistency in counselling methodology, student experience,
documentation and program delivery across schools while accommodating appropriate regional and cultural nuances.
- Develop and maintain standardised career guidance materials, counselling tools, student resources, frameworks and workshop content for use across GSG schools.
- Support schools in integrating career exploration and guidance initiatives into the broader student development journey.
Counsellor Capability Building
- Train, coach and support Career & University Guidance Counsellors across the GSG network on career counselling methodologies and best practices.
- Conduct regular knowledge-sharing sessions, workshops and professional development interventions for counsellors.
- Develop resources and reference materials to strengthen counsellors' understanding of emerging careers, academic pathways, subject choices and future workforce trends.
- Promote consistent counselling standards and practices across the Group.
Student & Parent Engagement
- Design and conduct career awareness workshops, webinars and information sessions for students across GSG schools.
- Develop structured resources and communication for parents to help them understand career pathways, subject selection, academic planning and ways to support their child's career exploration.
- Conduct or support parent counselling sessions where required, particularly around key academic and subject-selection decisions.
Program Tracking & Reporting
- Establish and maintain mechanisms to track student participation, counselling interventions, assessment outcomes and program progress across schools.
- Ensure appropriate documentation and maintenance of student counselling records.
- Analyse counselling and program data to assess effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
- Prepare periodic reports and insights for the Head – Career Counselling & University Guidance and other relevant stakeholders.
- Track implementation across schools and highlight gaps, risks and opportunities for strengthening the program.
Career Intelligence & External Engagement
- Stay abreast of global workforce trends, emerging careers, higher education pathways, changing skill requirements and developments in career counselling.
- Translate relevant market and education trends into actionable guidance for students,
parents and counsellors.
- Identify and engage with educational institutions, industry professionals, career experts and other external partners to create career exploration opportunities for students.
- Support initiatives such as career talks, industry interactions, expert sessions, workshops and other career exposure activities across GSG schools.
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Career Counselling, Education, Psychology or a related discipline.
- Relevant professional certification in career counselling, psychometric assessment or student guidance would be an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in career counselling/student guidance, preferably within the K–12 education sector.
- Demonstrated experience counselling middle and/or high school students, particularly around career exploration, subject selection and academic pathways.
- Experience designing or implementing structured career guidance programs across multiple schools, campuses or locations is strongly preferred.
- Prior experience training, coaching or mentoring counsellors would be an advantage.
- Experience working in an international, multicultural or multi-curriculum education environment would be preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of career assessment, psychometric tools, subject selection and career exploration methodologies.
- Good understanding of global education pathways, emerging careers and future workforce trends.
- Strong counselling, facilitation and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, counsellors and school leadership.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to conduct workshops and training sessions for diverse stakeholder groups.
- Strong organisational, analytical and project management capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple schools, stakeholders and priorities in a rapid-paced, geographically dispersed environment.
- Strong orientation towards data, documentation and measurable student outcomes.
