Senior Academic CounsellorJob Summary The Senior Academic Counsellor is responsible for guiding students and parents in making informed decisions about academic programs, career pathways, admissions, and educational opportunities. The role involves counselling prospective and existing students, managing enquiries and admissions, maintaining strong relationships with students and parents, and supporting the institution’s enrolment and student-success objectives.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide one-to-one academic and career counselling to students based on their interests, abilities, academic background, and career goals.
- Understand students’ educational requirements and recommend suitable courses, programs, institutions, or career pathways.
- Counsel students and parents regarding course structure, eligibility, admission procedures, fees, scholarships, and career opportunities.
- Handle enquiries through phone calls, emails, walk-ins, online platforms, and other communication channels.
- Conduct counselling sessions, orientation programs, seminars, webinars, and student/parent information sessions.
- Follow up with prospective students and guide them throughout the admission and enrolment process.
- Maintain accurate records of student interactions, counselling sessions, applications, and follow-ups in CRM or institutional systems.
- Coordinate with academic, admissions, marketing, and administrative teams to ensure a smooth student experience.
- Support junior counsellors by providing guidance, training, feedback, and mentoring.
- Monitor counselling and admission targets and prepare regular reports for management.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with students, parents, educational partners, and other stakeholders.
- Stay updated on academic programs, admission requirements, industry trends, career opportunities, and changes in the education sector.




- Identify students who may require additional academic or personal support and refer them to appropriate institutional resources.
- Handle student concerns professionally and ensure timely resolution of issues.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information and follow institutional policies and professional standards.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Counselling, Management, or a related field.
- A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline or a professional counselling qualification is an advantage.
- Relevant experience in academic counselling, student counselling, admissions, education consulting, or a related field.

Experience Typically 3–7 years of relevant experience, with demonstrated experience in student counselling, admissions, or the education sector. Experience in handling a counselling team or achieving admission/enrolment targets is an advantage.
