SAP Data Archiving Architect

Shift: 2:00 PM – 11:30 PM, Monday to Friday
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced SAP Data Archiving Architect with 12+ years of relevant experience in SAP data archiving and application lifecycle management. The consultant will lead end-to-end data archiving initiatives, working closely with clients and internal stakeholders to define, design, document, and implement archiving requirements across multiple applications.
The role requires strong expertise in the SAP Data Archiving Lifecycle , including data identification, eligibility assessment, retention and deletion policies, archiving execution, validation, and long-term data retrievability.
The consultant will act as the functional and technical SME for data archiving and will participate in client workshops, application assessments, solution design, documentation, and implementation support.
Key Responsibilities
Client Engagement & Requirements
- Lead and facilitate client workshops with business, legal, compliance, and IT stakeholders.
- Gather, analyze, and document detailed application data archiving requirements.
- Translate business, regulatory, legal, and technical requirements into actionable archiving solutions.
- Act as the primary point of contact for archiving-related discussions, decisions, and clarifications.
- Work closely with technical and functional teams throughout the engagement lifecycle.
SAP Data Archiving Lifecycle
- Define and document the complete data archiving lifecycle.
- Identify data eligible for archiving based on business and technical requirements.
- Define and document data retention and deletion policies.
- Design archiving approaches based on application landscape and data volumes.
- Identify suitable archiving objects by analyzing top-size tables and data growth .
- Support archiving execution, monitoring, validation, and reconciliation.
- Ensure archived data remains retrievable and accessible as required by business and compliance requirements.
- Ensure archiving processes align with regulatory, compliance, audit, and long-term retention requirements.
SAP Archiving Configuration & Customization
- Customize application-specific settings for SAP archiving objects.
- Perform object-specific and Basis-level customization required for archiving.
- Analyze application dependencies and determine appropriate archiving approaches.
- Work with SAP functional, technical, and Basis teams to address archiving dependencies and implementation requirements.
- Support identification and resolution of archiving-related technical and functional issues.
Architecture & Documentation
- Assess application landscapes and recommend appropriate data archiving strategies.
- Define archiving approaches considering data volume, business requirements, retention policies, and accessibility.
- Prepare Archiving Requirements Specifications and solution/design documentation.
- Create Design and Build documents for archiving solutions.
- Prepare application archiving assessments and recommendations.
- Develop user guides and supporting technical/functional documentation.
- Ensure documentation is complete, accurate, client-ready, and suitable for technical implementation teams.
Mandatory Skills
- 12+ years of relevant SAP Data Archiving experience.
- Strong understanding of the end-to-end SAP Data Archiving Lifecycle .
- Experience in:
- Data identification and eligibility

- Data retrieval and accessibility
- Strong experience identifying archiving objects based on top-size tables/data volume analysis .
- Experience with SAP Archiving Objects and object-specific customization .
- Good understanding of SAP Basis customization/configuration related to archiving .
- Strong experience in application archiving assessment and solution design.
- Experience creating Design, Build, Requirements, and User Guide documentation .
- Robust client-facing communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience conducting client workshops and gathering requirements.
- Ability to work across business, functional, technical, legal, compliance, and IT stakeholders.
Preferred / Good to Have
- Experience working across multiple SAP applications/modules.
- Understanding of regulatory and compliance-driven data retention requirements.
- Experience with large-volume SAP environments.
- Experience in long-term data retention and archived-data retrieval strategies.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and presentation skills.

Candidate Profile The ideal candidate should be a senior SAP Data Archiving SME/Architect who can independently engage with clients, understand complex application landscapes, define appropriate archiving strategies, and convert requirements into detailed technical/functional documentation. Strong hands-on understanding of SAP archiving, combined with architecture, stakeholder management, and documentation capabilities, is essential.
