Robotics Engineer (Core Team): Autonomous Drone Systems Location: Hyderabad | On-site
Type: Full-time | Core Team
Experience: Minimum 2 years of work experience on drones or similar robotic platforms, with a focus on autonomy
About the Role You will build the autonomy and onboard compute stack for our drones, from hardware integration to SLAM and sensor fusion software.
This is a hands-on, hardware-leaning role on a small core team, where you will own problems from design through flight testing.
What You'll Do
- Develop, tune and deploy SLAM pipelines (2D/3D, lidar-based and camera-based) for real-time operation on drones.
- Build sensor fusion systems combining LiDAR, IMU, cameras and depth cameras for robust state estimation and mapping.
- Integrate and optimize onboard compute on NVIDIA Jetson and Raspberry Pi, balancing performance, power and thermals.
- Connect perception and navigation software to the flight controller (PX4 / ArduPilot).
- Work with satellite imagery and geospatial data to support localization and mapping.
- Build and maintain robotics software in ROS2, Python and C++.
- Run flight tests, analyze logs and validate performance in the field.
- Debug across hardware, firmware and software.
- Guide junior engineers and interns.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's in Robotics, Electronics, Mechatronics, Aerospace, Computer Science or a related field.
- 2+ years of work experience on drones or similar platforms, focused on autonomy.
- Strong hands-on experience with SLAM on real robots or drones.
- Experience with sensor fusion using LiDAR, IMU, camera and depth camera data.
- Hands-on experience with NVIDIA Jetson and Raspberry Pi as companion computers.
- Working knowledge of PX4 and/or ArduPilot.
- Experience with satellite imagery and GDAL.
- Proficiency in Python and C++.
- Working knowledge of ROS2.
- Hands-on drone hardware experience: building, integrating and debugging real systems.
- Solid fundamentals in state estimation, coordinate frames and real-time systems.
Bonus Points
- Experience with TensorRT and ONNX for deploying models at the edge.
- Experience building GPU / CUDA-optimized pipelines for perception and mapping.
- Profiling and optimizing latency and throughput on embedded GPUs.
- Field testing and log analysis experience.
- Familiarity with GPS-denied or resilient navigation.
What We're Looking For
- Someone who has worked on systems that fly, not only in simulation.
- A strong problem-solver who can diagnose issues in the field.
- Someone who cares about efficient, well-optimized code on constrained hardware.
- An ownership mindset and clear communication.
