ABOUT HERBAL CONSULTANTS

Herbal Consultants Pvt. Ltd. (HCPL) is a global business consulting, research and product development company serving the Ayurveda, herbal, nutraceutical, wellness, cosmetic, biotechnology and natural-products industries.

HCPL is establishing a dedicated R&D; and Innovation Center focused on scientific research, formulation development, product innovation, validation, optimization and commercialization.

We are looking for a motivated and scientifically strong Research & Development Scientist to join our new laboratory and contribute to the development of innovative products across Ayurveda, herbal, nutraceutical, functional food, cosmetic and related categories.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. R&D; AND FORMULATION DEVELOPMENT

- Conduct research and formulation development for herbal, Ayurvedic, nutraceutical, functional food, beverage, cosmetic, personal-care and wellness products.
- Develop products from initial concept through laboratory prototype, optimization, pilot scale and commercialization.
- Conduct literature reviews and scientific research to identify suitable herbs, botanicals, extracts, active ingredients, excipients and delivery systems.
- Develop and optimize formulations for efficacy, stability, safety, sensory properties, manufacturability and cost.
- Conduct laboratory trials, experiments and prototype development.
- Troubleshoot formulation and product-development challenges.
- Maintain complete and accurate experimental records.

2. AYURVEDA & HERBAL RESEARCH

- Research medicinal plants, herbs, botanical extracts, phytochemicals and Ayurvedic ingredients.
- Evaluate scientific literature and evidence supporting traditional ingredients and formulations.
- Support development of evidence-based Ayurvedic and herbal products.
- Explore innovative combinations and potential synergistic effects of natural ingredients.
- Identify opportunities for differentiated and innovative herbal products.

3. NUTRACEUTICAL & FUNCTIONAL PRODUCTS

Support development of products such as:

- Tablets, capsules and powders
- Granules and sachets
- Gummies and lozenges
- Functional beverages and syrups
- Oils and other delivery formats
- Nutraceutical and dietary supplement formulations

Evaluate ingredient compatibility, dosage, processing requirements, stability and product performance. 4. COSMETIC & PERSONAL CARE R&D;

Support formulation and development of herbal and natural:

- Creams, lotions and gels
- Serums and cleansers
- Shampoos and conditioners
- Hair-care and skin-care products
- Oral-care products
- Other personal-care formulations

Evaluate natural actives, botanical ingredients, functional ingredients, texture, appearance, stability and compatibility. 5. LABORATORY ACTIVITIES

- Plan and execute laboratory experiments according to approved procedures.
- Prepare formulations, samples, solutions and trial batches.
- Operate laboratory equipment appropriately and safely.
- Conduct or coordinate physical, chemical and microbiological testing.
- Support stability studies and product-performance testing.
- Coordinate specialized testing with external laboratories where required.




- Follow laboratory safety, quality and documentation procedures.

6. SCIENTIFIC DOCUMENTATION

Prepare and maintain

- R&D; reports
- Formulation and trial records
- Laboratory notebooks
- Research protocols
- Literature reviews
- Product specifications
- Ingredient evaluation reports
- Stability reports
- Technical dossiers
- SOPs and laboratory procedures
- Research summaries and presentations

All research must be properly documented, traceable and scientifically defensible. 7. SCIENTIFIC & IP RESEARCH

- Conduct scientific literature, patent and prior-art searches.
- Monitor emerging technologies, ingredients, delivery systems and market innovations.
- Identify opportunities for new products, technologies and intellectual property.
- Support preparation of technical information for potential patent/IP protection.
- Assist in research proposals, publications and presentations where applicable.

8. REGULATORY & QUALITY SUPPORT

Work with the regulatory and quality teams to provide technical information required for product registrations, certifications and regulatory submissions.

Knowledge of Indian and international requirements for Ayurveda, herbal, nutraceutical, food and cosmetic products will be an advantage. 9. SCALE-UP & COMMERCIALIZATION

- Support transfer of laboratory formulations to pilot and commercial scale.
- Participate in manufacturing and scale-up trials.
- Identify and resolve scale-up and manufacturing challenges.
- Support technology transfer and preparation of manufacturing specifications.
- Work with contract manufacturers and analytical/testing laboratories.
- Assist in evaluating raw-material availability, process feasibility and approximate product cost.

10. CLIENT R&D; PROJECTS

HCPL undertakes product-development and R&D; projects for Indian and international clients.

The scientist may be required to:

- Understand client requirements and convert them into R&D; objectives.
- Prepare research plans and development timelines.
- Conduct formulation development and optimization.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations.
- Participate in technical discussions with clients and manufacturing partners.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of client formulations, research data and intellectual property.

INNOVATION RESPONSIBILITIES The candidate will be expected to actively contribute to HCPL's innovation pipeline.

This includes

- Identifying new product opportunities.
- Developing innovative concepts based on scientific research and market requirements.
- Exploring novel herbal, Ayurvedic and natural-ingredient combinations.
- Investigating innovative delivery systems and dosage forms.
- Supporting proof-of-concept research.
- Contributing to research collaborations with universities,



laboratories and research institutions.
- Supporting government-funded and grant-supported R&D; projects where applicable.

This is not a routine laboratory-testing position. The candidate is expected to contribute to scientific thinking, experimentation, problem-solving and innovation.

QUALIFICATION

Preferred qualifications include

- M.Sc. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Food Science or related discipline
- M.Pharm.
- M.Tech. in Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Technology, Food Technology or related field
- B.Pharm. with relevant R&D; experience
- B.Tech./M.Tech. in Biotechnology, Food Technology or related discipline

Candidates with knowledge or experience in Ayurveda, pharmacognosy, phytochemistry, medicinal plants, herbal science, pharmaceutical sciences or natural-product research will be preferred.

EXPERIENCE

2–6 years of relevant R&D; experience preferred in herbal products, Ayurveda, nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food technology, biotechnology, natural products or related industries.

Freshers with strong academic research experience and laboratory skills may also be considered.
