Job Overview
We are looking for a dedicated, attentive, and customer-focused Registered Pharmacist to join our team in Kozhikode (Calicut). The pharmacist will be responsible for interpreting prescriptions, dispensing medications accurately, counseling patients on proper drug usage, managing pharmacy inventory, and ensuring strict compliance with the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and Kerala State Pharmacy Council guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
1. Prescription Dispensing & Patient Counseling
Review and interpret doctor prescriptions for validity, dosage, route, frequency, drug-drug interactions, and potential contraindications. Accurately dispense prescription medications, surgical supplies, and over-the-counter (OTC) healthcare products.
Provide clear, compassionate patient counseling regarding medication timing (before/after meals), adverse reactions, side effects, and safe storage instructions.
Suggest legitimate generic alternatives or cost-effective equivalents when permitted and requested.
1. Inventory Management & Regulatory Compliance
Maintain accurate inventory levels: receive current consignments, verify invoices, batch numbers, and expiry dates. Implement FIFO / FEFO (First Expiry, First Out) methods to prevent medicine expiration and wastage.
Monitor and maintain cold-chain storage (2°C – 8°C) for vaccines, insulins, and temperature-sensitive biopharmaceuticals; record temperature logs daily.
Maintain statutory drug registers, including Schedule H, H1, X, and narcotic records in strict compliance with the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and Kerala state health regulations.
1. Billing & Store Operations
Operate pharmacy billing software / POS systems accurately, generate tax invoices, and process cash, card,
and UPI payments. Handle customer queries with a professional, polite, and service-oriented demeanor.
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sterile conditions across all pharmacy dispensing counters and storage shelves.
Required Qualifications & Skills
1. Education & Mandatory Licensing
Qualification: D.Pharm (Diploma in Pharmacy), B.Pharm (Bachelor of Pharmacy), or Pharm.D from a Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) approved institution. Licensing: Valid Kerala State Pharmacy Council (KSPC) Registration Certificate is mandatory.
1. Experience
Freshers with active KSPC registration are eligible to apply. 1 to 3+ years of experience in retail pharmacy, hospital dispensary, or clinic pharmacy in Kerala is preferred.
1. Language & Computer Skills
Languages: Fluent in Malayalam (essential for local patient communication) and working knowledge of English (essential for prescription reading & documentation). Computer Skills: Familiarity with pharmacy POS/billing software (e.g., Medico, Marg, Focus, Mediplus, or general ERP) and basic computer operation.
1. Personal Attributes
High attention to detail (zero error tolerance in dispensing). Ethical conduct, empathy, patience, and good interpersonal communication.
Willingness to work in retail store shifts.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: ₹18,000 – ₹28,000 per month (depending on qualifications, experience, and shift schedule).
Statutory Benefits: PF, ESI, and bonus as per company policy and labor norms.
