Position Summary

WTEC Energy India Pvt. Ltd. is looking for a Quality Engineer with a strong background in machining and fabrication quality. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality of machined and fabricated components through inspection, supplier/site visits, documentation, quality control, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.

The position requires extensive travel to supplier and project locations within India and internationally. Experience with electrical products/components will be considered an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Inspection & Control

- Perform inspection of machined and fabricated components as per engineering drawings, specifications, approved procedures, and applicable quality standards.
- Conduct incoming, in-process, pre-dispatch, and final inspections at supplier location as required.
- Verify dimensional accuracy, tolerances, surface finish, welding/fabrication quality, and overall workmanship.
- Support supplier quality improvement and continuous improvement activities.
- Ensure components conform to approved drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Identify and document non-conformities (NCRs) and coordinate corrective and preventive actions.
- Participate in root cause analysis and follow up on corrective actions with suppliers and concerned departments.

Measuring Instruments & Technical Knowledge
- Possess in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with measuring and inspection instruments such as:





o Vernier Caliper o Micrometer o Height Gauge o Bore Gauge o Dial Indicator o Depth Gauge o Thread Gauges o Surface Roughness Tester o Other dimensional inspection equipment
- Understand GD&T;, engineering drawings, tolerances, fits, surface finish, and machining symbols.
- Ensure measuring instruments used for inspection are within valid calibration and maintain traceability of inspection equipment.

Machining & Fabrication Quality
- Positive understanding of machining processes such as turning, milling, drilling, grinding, boring, and CNC machining.
- Knowledge of fabrication processes including cutting, bending, welding, fit-up, assembly, and finishing.
- Inspect fabricated structures/components for dimensional conformity and workmanship.
- Knowledge of welding inspection, welding defects, WPS/PQR and NDT processes will be an added advantage.

Supplier & Site Quality
- Visit suppliers/vendors for inspection, quality verification, process audits, and pre-dispatch inspection.
- Coordinate with suppliers for resolution of quality issues and implementation of corrective actions.
- Review supplier inspection reports, material certificates, calibration records, and other quality documents.
- Support supplier development and supplier quality performance improvement.
- Prepare visit/inspection reports and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.

Documentation

- Prepare and maintain quality documentation, including:

o Inspection Reports o Dimensional Inspection Reports o NCR Reports o Corrective Action Reports o Supplier Quality Reports o Material/Test Certificates o Calibration Records o Inspection Checklists o Quality and Site Visit Reports
- Maintain proper records and traceability of quality documents.




- Support preparation and review of quality documentation required by customers and projects.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Engineering, Design, Procurement, Sourcing, Projects, Production, Suppliers, and Management.
- Coordinate with the engineering/design team for clarification of drawings, tolerances, and technical requirements.
- Support procurement and sourcing teams in supplier quality evaluation.
- Communicate quality issues clearly and ensure timely closure of identified concerns.

Qualification & Experience
- B.E. / B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in a Machining and/or Fabrication Quality Department.
- Strong practical knowledge of dimensional inspection and measuring instruments.
- Good understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T;, machining processes, fabrication processes, and quality documentation.
- Experience in supplier quality, vendor inspection, or supplier development will be preferred.
- Experience or exposure to electrical equipment/components will be an added advantage.
- Good working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and other documentation tools.

Travel Requirements

- Candidate should be willing to travel approximately 70% of the time, including domestic and international supplier/project visits.
- Approximately 30% of the role will involve office-based activities, including documentation, reporting, coordination, and quality follow-up.
- Flexibility to travel at short notice based on project and inspection requirements.
- Valid passport will be an added advantage.
