Job Title : Purchase Manager

Job Summary To manage and supervise the company’s purchase and procurement activities, ensure timely availability of materials, develop and manage vendors, control purchase costs, negotiate with suppliers, and ensure procurement is carried out as per quality, cost and delivery requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage day-to-day purchase and procurement activities as per company requirements.
- Identify, evaluate and develop reliable suppliers and vendors.
- Obtain and compare quotations from different suppliers.
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules and other commercial terms with vendors.
- Prepare and process Purchase Orders (POs) as per approved requirements.
- Ensure timely procurement and delivery of raw materials, consumables, spare parts, packaging materials and other items.
- Coordinate with Production, Stores, Maintenance, Quality, PPC and Accounts departments for purchase requirements.
- Monitor pending Purchase Orders and ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Follow up with suppliers regarding delivery schedules, quality issues and shortages.
- Ensure proper quality and specification of purchased materials as per company requirements.
- Monitor market prices, material availability and supplier trends.
- Develop alternate sources of supply to reduce dependency and ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Maintain vendor records, quotations, purchase orders and other procurement-related documents.
- Monitor supplier performance based on quality, cost and delivery.
- Resolve issues related to material quality, quantity, delivery and commercial terms.
- Ensure optimum inventory levels and avoid excess or shortage of materials.




- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and improve procurement efficiency.
- Prepare purchase reports, MIS and other procurement-related reports for management.
- Ensure compliance with company purchase policies, approval procedures and internal controls.

Qualification & Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Commerce, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a relevant discipline.
- Candidates with relevant experience in Steel / Manufacturing / Engineering industries will be preferred.
- Strong understanding of procurement processes, vendor management, material sourcing, negotiation and inventory management.
- Knowledge of raw materials, consumables, engineering items and spare parts will be an added advantage.
