Job Summary

SOM Projects Pvt. Ltd. is looking for an experienced and result-oriented Purchase Manager Construction to manage end-to-end procurement activities for construction projects. The candidate should have strong experience in construction material procurement, vendor development, commercial negotiation, rate comparison and purchase planning.

Construction industry experience is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage end-to-end purchase and procurement activities for construction projects.
- Source and develop reliable vendors and suppliers for construction materials.
- Obtain and compare quotations from multiple vendors and prepare comparative statements.
- Negotiate price, quality, credit terms, delivery schedules and other commercial conditions.
- Procure civil, structural, finishing, electrical, plumbing and other project-related materials.
- Coordinate with Project, Planning, Stores, Accounts and Site teams for material requirements.
- Review material requisitions, BOQ and project requirements before procurement.
- Prepare and process Purchase Orders (POs) and ensure proper documentation.
- Follow up with vendors for timely delivery of materials at project sites.
- Monitor market rates, material availability and price fluctuations.
- Develop alternative sources to ensure uninterrupted material supply.
- Monitor vendor performance, quality,



delivery and commercial compliance.
- Maintain vendor database, purchase records, quotation comparisons and procurement MIS.
- Support cost optimization and achieve competitive procurement rates.
- Resolve vendor-related issues concerning quality, quantity, delivery and payments.
- Ensure procurement activities are carried out as per company policies and project requirements.

Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of construction and building materials.
- Excellent vendor development and vendor management skills.
- Strong negotiation and commercial skills.
- Positive knowledge of BOQ, rate analysis and quotation comparison.
- Experience in Purchase Orders and procurement documentation.
- Good knowledge of MS Excel / ERP systems.
- Strong follow-up and coordination skills.
- Ability to handle multiple purchase requirements and urgent site requirements.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Candidate Profile
- 7–10 years of relevant Purchase / Procurement experience.
- Experience in Construction / Infrastructure / EPC is mandatory.
- Candidates from manufacturing, automobile, FMCG or unrelated procurement backgrounds will not be preferred.
- Graduate / Diploma; Civil Engineering or related qualification will be an advantage.
- Candidates with a strong network of construction material suppliers will be preferred.
