Job Summary
Project Staff - Open The Centre for Infrastructure, Sustainable Transportation and Urban Planning (CiSTUP) at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, invites applications for a project position to support travel demand modelling and transit planning studies for Bengaluru.
Role Overview
The project involves the application and refinement of travel demand modelling tools to support public transport planning in Bengaluru. The work will focus on analysing travel demand and mode shares, assessing transit demand and supply, and identifying opportunities to improve metro, bus, and first- and last-mile connectivity. The position will involve working with travel demand models and diverse transport, land-use, and spatial datasets, and applying modelling, data analysis, and GIS-based approaches to support transit planning and decision-making. The work will also involve interaction with project partners and relevant public agencies. The project provides opportunities to work on practical transportation planning problems and contribute to the development of analytical approaches and tools for evidence-based mobility planning.
Eligibility
- Masters or Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Urban Planning, Geography, Data Science, or a related field. Candidates with a Ph.D. or relevant research experience may also be considered.
- Candidates with academic or professional experience in one or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply:
Responsibilities
- Travel demand modelling and transportation planning
- Public transport planning and transit network analysis
- Mode choice and travel behaviour modelling
- GIS and spatial analysis
- Transport data analysis
