Role Summary The Project Finance Controller is responsible for financial planning, monitoring, and control of EPC projects. This role ensures alignment between budgeted and actual performance, safeguards project margins, and drives financial discipline through proactive cost control and close coordination with Project Managers (PMs).
Key Responsibilities
1. Budgeting & Cost Control
- Monitor and track budget vs. actual costs across all EPC projects.
- Analyse cost variances and highlight risks and deviations in a timely manner.
- Implement robust cost control measures to minimize overruns.
2. Margin Management
- Track project margins (booked vs. actual) and identify potential erosion.
- Work closely with PMs and Head of Projects to ensure project profitability targets are achieved.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to improve margins.
3. Revenue & Billing Management
- Coordinate with project and commercial teams for customer invoicing as per contractual milestones.
- Ensure timely and accurate billing aligned with project progress.
4. Receivables & Cash Flow Monitoring
- Track customer payments and receivables, ensuring adherence to agreed payment terms.
- Monitor cash inflows and outflows at project level.
- Support cash flow forecasting and working capital optimization.
5. Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare periodic project financial reports, including:
- Cost performance reports
- Margin analysis
- Cash flow status
- Provide actionable insights to management and project stakeholders.
6. Stakeholder Coordination
- Work in close coordination with Project Managers and cross-functional teams (procurement, contracts, finance).
- Act as a financial advisor to PMs and Head of Projects,
ensuring informed decision-making.
7. Risk Management & Governance
- Identify financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and financial controls.
8. Proactive Cost Optimization
- Suggest and implement methodologies to avoid cost overruns, such as:
- Earned Value Management (EVM)
- Regular cost review and forecasting cycles
- Early warning systems for cost deviations
- Vendor cost benchmarking and optimization
- Drive continuous improvement in project financial processes.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of EPC project financials
- Expertise in cost control, budgeting, and variance analysis
- Knowledge of project accounting and revenue recognition
- Proficiency in financial tools (ERP systems, Excel, dashboards)
- Robust analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent coordination and stakeholder management abilities
Experience
- 5–10 years of experience in project finance/control, preferably in EPC or infrastructure projects
