Role Description The Owner role is a full-time, in office position based in Nagpur, responsible for providing strategic leadership and overall direction for the foundry’s operations and portfolio. Day-to-day tasks include defining investment theses, identifying and evaluating deeptech and strategic frontier opportunities, and making capital allocation decisions in alignment with Solara’s mission. The Owner will build and maintain relationships with founders, investors, government stakeholders, and industry partners, acting as a key ecosystem connector.

Responsibilities also include overseeing go-to-market support, guiding regulatory and policy engagement, setting performance targets, and ensuring effective execution by internal teams. The role requires active involvement in portfolio company mentoring, brand positioning, risk management, and long-term growth planning.

Qualifications

- Strong strategic leadership and business management skills, with experience in building or leading ventures in deeptech, defence, climate, health, or related strategic sectors.
- Proficiency in investment evaluation, portfolio management, and capital allocation,



including familiarity with early-stage funding structures and venture finance.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute go-to-market strategies, manage partnerships, and drive ecosystem engagement with government and industry stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to represent the organization publicly and build trust-based relationships with founders and partners.
- Track record of operational oversight, organizational development, and risk management, including the ability to lead cross-functional teams toward clear outcomes.
- Background in technology, engineering, policy, or business (e.g., degree in engineering, economics, public policy, business, or similar field); advanced degrees or prior founder/investor experience are highly beneficial.
- Deep understanding of India’s strategic and regulatory landscape, particularly in defence, dual-use technologies, climate solutions, and healthcare innovation.
