Job Title: Medical Officer – Laboratory OperationsRole Overview

We are seeking an MBBS-qualified Medical Officer with hands-on experience in laboratory operations, team leadership, quality management, and clinical coordination across multiple locations. The role will bridge clinical expertise with productive laboratory management to ensure operational excellence, diagnostic reliability, regulatory compliance, and high standards of patient care.

Key Responsibilities

1. Laboratory Operations Management

- Oversee day-to-day laboratory operations across assigned centers.
- Ensure smooth workflow, adherence to SOPs, and timely and accurate reporting.
- Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities for improvement.

1. Team Leadership & Coordination

- Supervise and coordinate Lab Managers, Cluster Heads, Laboratory Technicians, and other relevant staff.
- Ensure optimal workforce utilization, staff productivity, and adherence to operational and quality standards.
- Foster effective communication and collaboration across laboratory teams.

1. Quality Assurance & Monitoring

- Review and monitor Internal Quality Control (IQC) and External Quality Control (EQC) results.
- Identify quality deviations, investigate root causes, and ensure timely implementation of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Monitor compliance with established quality standards and laboratory protocols.

1. Clinical Coordination

- Act as a liaison between clinicians, Heads of Departments (HODs), and laboratory teams.
- Address clinical and technical queries related to laboratory reports and investigations.




- Support appropriate interpretation and discussion of laboratory results within the scope of clinical expertise.
- Participate in technical and clinical discussions to strengthen clinician confidence in laboratory services.

1. Operational Reviews & Site Audits

- Conduct regular visits to assigned laboratory locations for operational reviews and performance assessments.
- Carry out process and compliance audits and identify gaps requiring corrective action.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across centers.

1. Follow-up & Escalation Management

- Ensure timely follow-up on operational, quality, and service-related issues.
- Coordinate with relevant teams to resolve escalations within defined timelines.
- Track action items through to closure and monitor the effectiveness of corrective measures.

1. Process Improvement & Standardization

- Drive standardization of laboratory processes across multiple centers.
- Promote operational efficiency, patient safety, and compliance with applicable NABL and ISO requirements.
- Identify process gaps and implement sustainable improvement measures.

1. Training & Development

- Support training and competency-development initiatives for laboratory staff.
- Promote adherence to SOPs, quality protocols, safety requirements, and best practices.




- Identify training needs based on audit findings, quality trends, and operational requirements.

1. Travel & Multi-location Coordination

- Undertake frequent travel across assigned locations for operational monitoring, audits, team coordination, and implementation of improvement initiatives.

Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of laboratory workflows, diagnostic processes, and quality systems.
- Knowledge of NABL/ISO standards and laboratory quality requirements.
- Strong leadership and team-management skills.
- Good clinical acumen and ability to understand and discuss laboratory reports.
- Effective communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple locations and priorities effectively.
- Strong follow-up, execution, and escalation-management skills.

Educational Qualification
- MBBS from a recognized medical institution.
- Additional qualifications or certifications in laboratory medicine, healthcare quality, or management would be an advantage.

Experience
- Relevant experience in laboratory operations, diagnostics, hospital/clinical laboratory management, or healthcare operations.
- Experience managing multi-location laboratory operations is preferred.
