About Dieselship

Dieselship designs and manufactures aluminium connectors, clamps and associated fittings for high-voltage substations and transmission applications at Kattupakkam, Chennai. A significant proportion of our products are exported to customers and utilities across Europe.

We are strengthening our engineering and drawing team and are looking for two capable mechanical CAD designers to join us.

The Role

We are looking for Mechanical Draftsmen / CAD Designers who are equally comfortable working in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.

Your first major assignment will be to upgrade and standardise our existing engineering drawing library. This will involve redrawing legacy part and assembly drawings to true scale, checking and completing dimensions, and creating accurate 3D models of our products.

Once this drawing-library project is established, you will work closely with our engineering and production teams to prepare drawings for new customer orders, product modifications and new designs.

What You Will Do

- Redraw existing mechanical part and assembly drawings in AutoCAD to true scale, ensuring that the drawn geometry agrees with the specified dimensions.
- Review legacy drawings and identify missing, inconsistent or unclear dimensions for engineering clarification.
- Create accurate 3D part and assembly models in SolidWorks.
- Produce clean and properly dimensioned 2D manufacturing drawings from SolidWorks models.
- Prepare General Arrangement (GA) drawings for customer review and approval.
- Maintain standard parts, drawing numbers, file names and revision records in an organised drawing library.
- Update drawings when designs,



dimensions or manufacturing requirements change.
- Work with engineering, production and quality teams to ensure drawings accurately represent the part to be manufactured.
- Check drawings carefully for dimensional accuracy, completeness and consistency before release.

What You Need
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or ITI Draughtsman – Mechanical.
- Minimum 2 years of practical AutoCAD experience preparing mechanical part and assembly drawings.
- Minimum 2 years of practical SolidWorks experience, including:
- Part modelling
- Assemblies
- 2D drawings generated from 3D models
- Good understanding of engineering drawing practices, including:
- Orthographic views
- Sections and detail views
- Dimensioning
- Fits and tolerances
- Working knowledge of cast and machined components.
- Ability to read an existing engineering drawing and recreate the component accurately in CAD.
- Strong attention to detail and dimensional accuracy.
- Clear written English for drawing notes and basic technical communication.

Good to Have Experience in any of the following would be an advantage:
- Aluminium castings and machined aluminium components
- Electrical connectors, clamps, line fittings or substation hardware
- High-voltage transmission or substation products
- Checking engineering drawings against customer specifications




- Maintaining drawing revision and document-control systems
- Preparing drawings for manufacturing, inspection and customer approval

What We Offer
- Salary: ₹20,000–₹35,000 per month, depending on experience, capability and practical-test performance.

Selection Process Shortlisted candidates will be invited to our Kattupakkam, Chennai office for a practical CAD test of approximately two hours.

The test will involve real mechanical components and assess both:

AutoCAD

- Mechanical drafting
- Recreating geometry accurately from dimensions
- Views, sections and dimensioning

SolidWorks

- Part modelling
- Assembly work
- Producing a manufacturing drawing from a 3D model

Accuracy is our first priority. Speed is considered only after the drawing is correct. We are looking for candidates who understand that a CAD drawing is not simply an illustration — it is an engineering document from which a component must be manufactured correctly.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
