About Zavya
Zavya is a fast-scaling contemporary silver jewellery brand with strong presence across D2C, marketplaces and quick commerce. Our next stage of growth depends on launching the right products faster, at better margins, from a stronger vendor base.
The Role
You will build and lead Zavya's Buying & Merchandising function. You'll decide what gets developed, at what price, weight and margin, and through which vendor. You'll also build the team and systems that deliver it. This is a function-leadership role, not a senior merchandiser role.
What You'll Do
Product & Assortment Strategy
· Build the annual and seasonal development roadmap with Business and Design.
· Turn channel, customer and category data into development priorities.
· Define category architecture and price-point gaps, and plan evergreen, seasonal and event-led launch calendars.
Buying & Commercials
· Own product costing and target margins.
· Set target weights, costs, MOQs and vendor commercials for every category.
· Drive cost engineering and margin improvement across the portfolio.
Vendor Strategy
· Build a resilient vendor base and reduce dependency on any single vendor.
· Develop vendor capability for new categories.
· Negotiate terms, capacity and lead times.
· Run vendor scorecards on quality, cost, OTIF and innovation.
Development & Launch
· Own the full sampling and development funnel and prioritise critical launches.
· Ensure every design is commercially viable and manufacturable before it scales.
· Work with the D2C, marketplace and quick commerce teams on channel-specific assortment.
· Track post-launch performance and feed the learnings back into development.
· Build a fast test-and-scale mechanism for new products.
Team & Systems
· Lead merchandisers, buyers and sampling resources.
· Build SOPs for sampling, vendor allocation, costing, approvals and launch readiness.
· Run weekly development reviews and dashboards.
You Should Have
· 7–12 years in jewellery buying, merchandising, product development or sourcing.
· Experience owning a category or a significant product portfolio.
· Strong command of costing, margins and jewellery manufacturing.
· A proven record of building and negotiating with vendors.
· Team leadership experience.
· Exposure to D2C, organised retail or contemporary jewellery, strongly preferred.
