Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Planning Lead to drive planning, scheduling, monitoring, and project controls for thermal power plant construction projects, with strong hands-on experience in Balance of Plant (BOP), BTG, and Turbine Generator (TG) Building construction.

The role will be responsible for developing and managing integrated project schedules, tracking construction progress, identifying delays and critical activities, coordinating with engineering, procurement, construction and subcontractor teams, and providing timely project performance reports to project management.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead end-to-end project planning and scheduling for thermal power plant construction projects.
- Develop and maintain Level 3 / Level 4 detailed project schedules covering engineering, procurement, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and commissioning activities.
- Manage planning activities for BOP packages and TG Building, including civil, structural, equipment erection and associated works.
- Prepare baseline schedules, resource-loaded schedules, recovery schedules and catch-up plans.
- Establish project WBS, activity sequencing, logic, milestones and critical path in coordination with project execution teams.
- Monitor planned vs. actual progress and identify slippages, constraints and schedule risks.
- Conduct critical path analysis and provide recommendations for mitigation and recovery.
- Track construction productivity, manpower deployment, equipment utilization and key project milestones.
- Coordinate with civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, procurement, engineering and commissioning teams to ensure schedule alignment.




- Monitor contractor/subcontractor schedules and evaluate progress against approved plans.
- Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards, S-curves, MIS and management presentations.
- Develop and monitor look-ahead schedules and weekly work plans with construction teams.
- Identify schedule risks and constraints related to drawings, materials, manpower, fronts, approvals and site readiness.
- Support preparation of EOT/extension of time claims, delay analysis and schedule impact assessments, where required.
- Ensure integration of engineering, procurement and construction schedules to identify interface issues.
- Conduct regular schedule review meetings with project teams and contractors.
- Provide management with early warnings on potential delays and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate progress measurement systems and establish suitable earned value / performance monitoring mechanisms.
- Ensure planning and reporting are aligned with project contractual requirements and organizational standards.

Required Experience
- 14–20 years of overall experience in planning/project controls, preferably in thermal power plant construction.
- Strong experience in BOP construction planning and execution.
- Significant exposure to TG Building / Turbine Generator Building construction and associated works.
- Experience in large-scale power projects involving civil, structural, mechanical and equipment erection activities.




- Hands-on experience in developing and managing detailed construction schedules.
- Experience working with EPC contractors, construction contractors and multiple project stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of construction sequences, interfaces, project milestones and commissioning requirements.

Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency in Primavera P6.
- Working knowledge of MS Excel, PowerPoint and project reporting tools.
- Robust understanding of WBS, baseline management, critical path, float analysis and schedule updating.
- Knowledge of progress measurement, S-curves, productivity monitoring and earned value concepts.
- Ability to prepare recovery schedules, catch-up plans and delay analysis.
- Good understanding of BOP and TG-related construction activities, including civil and structural works, equipment erection and associated mechanical/electrical works.

Educational Qualification
- B.E./B.Tech in Civil / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Additional qualifications/certifications in Project Planning, Project Controls or Primavera P6 will be an advantage.

Preferred Candidate Profile Candidates currently working as Planning Manager / Senior Planning Manager / Planning Lead / Project Controls Lead with major EPC, power generation or infrastructure organizations and having substantial BOP + TG Building thermal power project experience would be preferred.
