Job Purpose Summary:
The incumbent will assist the Vice President & Head of GIFT City Branch on all aspects of Finance and administration issues of QNB business in GIFT City IBU. Undertakes a range of specialized accounting clerical duties within a specific function.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities by Dimensions:
Shareholder & Financial:
- Provide the required support in monitoring limits and exposures with a view to improving the branch’s profits, whilst at the same time ensuring compliance with the consolidated/ overall approved limits.
- Ensure timely and accurate compilation of information required for disclosure of all material matters concerning the branch.
- Assist Vice President Head of GIFT City Branch in developing mechanisms designed to ensure compliance with all relevant local laws and regulations and also international laws and regulations.
- Assist Vice President Head of GIFT City Branch in performance monitoring and quality measurement purposes pertaining to the financial control related process.
- Observes and promotes cost consciousness and efficiency, and enhance productivity, to minimize costs, avoid wastes, and optimize benefits for the bank
Customer (Internal & External):
- Establish and enhance relationships with regulatory authorities to ensure that all regulatory reporting requirements are complied with.
- Assist the VP - Head of GIFT city branch in liaising with external auditors on matters pertaining to presentation and disclosure of financial statements, emerging financial reporting trends, impacts of proposed accounting standards etc.
- Provide timely and accurate information to the external and internal Auditors, Compliance, Financial Control and Risk Functions as and when required.
Internal (Processes, Products, Regulatory):
- Responsible for the preparation of Country Statutory Returns for Regulator and other local regulatory bodies as per local requirements
- Analyses data from statements, ledgers, accounts, etc.
- Identifies and undertakes initial investigation of variances against budgets and standards.
- Collates and extracts data and produces routine reports, schedules, summaries,
and letters for customers and suppliers.
- Responsible for processing of invoices and associated accruals and pre-payments as well as fixed assets, in line with company procedures and authorization requirements.
- Responsible for the preparation of the MIS Pack containing various MIS and ALCO related information required by Group Financial Control/Head Office (HO).
- Produce reconciliation of all Suspense Accounts of Branch
- Responsible for audit confirmation of company audit requests (Customer Accounts)
- Support VP - Head of GIFT city branch in compiling any Local ALCO related information
- Support VP - Head of GIFT city branch in compiling and reviewing Daily Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss for Country GM
- Prepare reconciliation of all Nostro accounts including follow up of long outstanding items and reviews Nostro accounts for consistency of Balances and Transactions. Report exceptions to management.
- Performs regular cash counts (petty cash)
- Responsible for processing of invoices and associated accruals and pre-payments as well as fixed assets, in line with company procedures and authorization requirements.

- Possess superior knowledge of finance related business processes and controls in all related operational areas.
- Maintain an understanding of all pertinent regulations as well as best practices pertaining to financial reporting.
- Proactively identify areas for professional development of self and undertake development activities
- Seek out opportunities to remain current with all developments in professional field
Legal, Regulatory, and Risk Framework Responsibilities:
- Comply with all applicable legal, regulatory and internal compliance requirements including, but not limited to,
Group Compliance Policies and Procedures (AML & CTF, Sanctions Policy, Data Protection Policy, Fraud Control Policy, Whistle Blowing Policy, Conflict of Interest and Insider Dealing Policy).
- Understand and effectively perform your role under the Three Lines of Defence principle to identify measure, monitor, manage and report risks.
- Ensure systematic positive outcomes for clients in accordance with Conduct Risk policy.
- Support the framework of RCSA, KRI, Incident reporting and remediation, as appropriate, in accordance with the Operational Risk Management requirements.
- Maintain appropriate knowledge to ensure full qualification to undertake the role.
- Complete all mandatory training provided by the Bank, attain, and maintain the required levels of competence.
- Attend mandatory (internal and external) seminars as instructed by the Bank.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- University Graduate with a major preferably in finance, accountancy or related subjects. CA Preferred
- Minimum 6 years’ experience, preferable in the banking industry
- Excellent oral and written communication skills (including report writing) in English, with basic understanding of local language highly desirable
Required Special Skills:
- Strong computer skills. (Preferred advanced excel skills)
- Exposure to/knowledge of general office administration.
- Sound knowledge of local Central Bank / local Regulatory reporting requirements. Be aware of rationale for Statistical analysis.
- Sound understanding of financial control aspects for local regulatory reporting requirements.
- Excellent knowledge of accounting systems, particularly Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss accounting structure.
- Ability to interact and provide the required information to the external auditors, central bank
- Ability to coordinate with several units within the branch to resolve various issues.
Operating Environment/ Location:
- The referenced position will be an Individual Contributor role based in GIFT City and will involve liaison with the support functions at HO, as and when required.
