– Maintenance Manager – Biogas / CBG Plant
Job Title: Maintenance Manager – Biogas / CBG Plant
Location: Ankleshwar, Gujarat
Reporting To: Plant Head / COO
Function: Plant Operations & Maintenance
Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Manager to ensure the smooth, safe, and reliable operation of all plant equipment and utilities at a Biogas/CBG facility.
The incumbent will be responsible for planning, executing, and supervising preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities. The role will also act as the second-in-command for Safety, Security, and Manpower at the site and coordinate with third-party stakeholders.
In the absence of the Plant Head, the incumbent will oversee these functions and take ownership of plant operations. The role will also be responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly reporting and maintaining accurate maintenance and operational documentation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Maintenance Planning & Execution
- Prepare preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for digesters, compressors, blowers, pumps, CHP units, purification systems, and CBG bottling systems.
- Minimize breakdowns and downtime through proactive maintenance strategies.
- Coordinate with Shift In-Charges for smooth operations and team training.
- Schedule shifts and monitor operations, logbooks, and maintenance sheets.
- Maintain inventory documentation and equipment history sheets.
- Digitalize maintenance and inventory documentation.
- Ensure site presence, required manpower, and timely third-party support during breakdowns.
2. Equipment Reliability & Troubleshooting
- Lead troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
- Ensure quick breakdown resolution through Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive actions.
- Monitor equipment health and identify potential failures through predictive maintenance.

Team Management
- Supervise Operations & Maintenance Engineers, technicians, operators, and contractors.
- Coordinate manpower deployment across shifts and ensure adequate coverage.
- Train team members on SOPs, safety practices, and equipment handling.
4. Inventory & Spare Parts Management
- Maintain stock of critical spares and consumables.
- Monitor stock levels and ensure timely replenishment.
- Develop vendor relationships for timely procurement and technical support.
- Maintain records of spare-part usage and inventory movement.
5. Compliance, Safety & Emergency Preparedness
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with applicable safety and statutory requirements, including PESO, Pollution Control Board, and Factory Act requirements, as applicable.
- Implement and monitor LOTO (Lockout-Tagout) procedures.
- Ensure readiness and maintenance of firefighting systems and emergency response arrangements.
- Ensure compliance with PPE, permit-to-work procedures, and plant SOPs.
6. Operations, Coordination & Reporting
- Align maintenance activities with production schedules in coordination with Operations.
- Support uninterrupted plant operations and optimize equipment availability.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance/operations reports.
- Track KPIs including MTTR, MTBF, equipment availability, breakdown frequency, and maintenance costs.
- Coordinate with Plant Head, vendors, contractors, and third-party stakeholders.
7. Site Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Act as second-in-command for Safety, Security, and Manpower at the site.
- Oversee relevant site functions during the absence of the Plant Head.
- Coordinate with third-party contractors, service providers, and technical agencies.
- Ensure site-level issues are escalated and resolved within defined timelines.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Robust problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Expertise in preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
- Knowledge of CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
- Strong leadership, planning, coordination, and team-management capabilities.
- Knowledge of equipment reliability practices, RCA, MTTR, and MTBF.
- Understanding of plant safety, LOTO, emergency response, and statutory compliance.
- Ability to manage contractors, vendors, and multiple site stakeholders.
Preferred Qualification & Experience
- Relevant Engineering qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Chemical, or related discipline .
- Relevant experience in plant maintenance, preferably in Biogas, CBG, Waste-to-Energy, Process Plant, Oil & Gas, Chemical, or allied industries .
- Hands-on experience in equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, team handling, and plant operations.
- Experience managing breakdowns, preventive maintenance schedules, contractors, and spare-parts inventory.
