Role Description The Lead - US Accountant will oversee end-to-end U.S. tax and accounting engagements, including individual and business tax preparation, reviewing returns, and ensuring compliance with IRS and state regulations. This full-time, on-site role based in Kochi involves supervising accounting and bookkeeping activities, reviewing payroll filings, sales tax returns, FBAR compliance, and 1099 reporting. The person in this role will coordinate with team members to manage cloud accounting, QuickBooks setups, and reconcile accounts, while maintaining accurate financial records and supporting tax planning strategies.

Daily responsibilities include managing client communications, guiding junior staff, resolving tax and debt issues,



and preparing documentation for IRS audits and representations. The Lead - US Accountant will also help improve internal processes, maintain high ethical standards, and contribute to the firm’s quality control and service consistency.

Qualifications

- Strong knowledge of U.S. individual and business tax laws, including experience preparing federal and multi-state returns and handling IRS audit representation.
- Proficiency in accounting and bookkeeping practices, including general ledger management, reconciliations, financial statements, and payroll accounting.
- Hands-on experience with cloud accounting platforms and QuickBooks (set-up, maintenance, and troubleshooting for small businesses and nonprofits).
- Capability to manage compliance tasks such as sales tax filing, 1099 reporting, FBAR compliance, and tax/debt resolution workflows.
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills with solid attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Effective communication and client relationship skills, including the ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly and professionally.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in guiding and reviewing the work of junior accountants or tax preparers.
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or EA certification focused on U.S. tax is highly beneficial.
