Role:
Lead - Business Excellence (OEM)
Role Purpose To drive business excellence across OEM building the performance-tracking, process, and review infrastructure that connects sales execution to results with direct exposure to category strategy and market dynamics through the galvanized portfolio. The role sits close to decision-making: performance data, market intelligence, and process reviews the person owns will directly shape category calls and OEM review discussions.
This is designed as a launchpad role. It gives early/mid-career talent broad, cross-functional visibility across OEM sales, category management, and marketing the kind of exposure that typically precedes a move into a target-owning sales or category role. Strong performers can expect to be considered for such roles as they open up.
Key Responsibilities
A. OEM Business Excellence (Primary Focus)
- Own the performance-tracking engine for OEM: process adherence, target achievement, and the gap between the two, across segments/regions
- Prepare segment-wise/region-wise performance summaries and root-cause analysis where process is strong but targets are missed surfacing insights, not just data
- Design and standardize review formats/cadences across OEM teams (quarterly reviews, MIS, dashboards)
- Work with Specifier(s) and Project team to grow business through lead management
- Drive documentation and rollout of excellence frameworks, SOPs, and best-practice sharing across OEM teams
- Represent the excellence function in review discussions with segment leads,
building the credibility and stakeholder relationships that come with it
B. Galvanized Category Exposure
- Track category-level sales performance (volume, mix, realization) against plan and flag deviations proactively
- Build and maintain category dashboards, pricing trackers, and demand-supply MIS in coordination with sales, SCM, and marketing
- Conduct competitor tracking and market intelligence for galvanized products
- Contribute to category review decks and business review presentations
- Get first-hand exposure to how category strategy and pricing decisions are made — the natural next step from process/data ownership
C. Enterprise-Wide Excellence Integration
- Bring OEM and RET data together into a single, coherent view for the Excellence function, rather than siloed reporting
- Bring recommendations directly to review forums and defend them in front of stakeholders this is a visible, front-facing part of the role, not backend prep
- Spot risks, delays, or data gaps early and raise them proactively, ahead of formal review cycles
D. Ownership & Initiative
- Lead specific improvement projects end-to-end within the category or excellence charter — from scoping through to implementation and tracking impact
- Push for better ways of working across teams, not just execute what's asked — this role is expected to shape how excellence is done, not just report on it
- Build a track record of independently-driven wins that can be pointed to when the next role opens up
Required Skills & Experience
- 2–5 years' experience in sales support, business excellence, category management, or MIS/analytics roles, preferably in steel, metals, or a B2B manufacturing environment
- Solid Excel/data-handling skills; comfort building and maintaining trackers and dashboards
- Ability to synthesize data into clear, decision-ready summaries
- Structured communication — written and verbal — for review decks and stakeholder updates
- Self-starter who can work with moderate supervision and manage multiple threads (category + OEM excellence) in parallel
- Comfortable coordinating across sales, SCM, and marketing stakeholders without formal authority over them
Qualification : B.E/B.Tech and preferably MBA
Key Performance Indicators
- Quality and impact of insights delivered (not just data accuracy) — do they change decisions?
- Proactive flagging of deviations (targets, process gaps) ahead of formal review cycles
- Adoption of standardized review formats/frameworks across OEM teams
- Stakeholder feedback from OEM segment leads on the value of the analysis and coordination provided
- Depth of category understanding developed over time (a marker of readiness for a category/sales role)
