Job Purpose To perform and supervise laboratory investigations accurately and efficiently while ensuring quality standards, patient safety, proper documentation and smooth day-to-day laboratory operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests as per departmental protocols.
- Handle and process blood urine and other clinical samples accurately.
- Operate maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and analyzers.
- Perform sample collection labeling processing and storage as per SOPs.
- Ensure accuracy and timely reporting of test results.
- Conduct internal quality control and maintain required quality standards.
- Identify and report abnormal or critical results to the concerned doctor or authorized person.
- Maintain laboratory records registers worksheets and test reports.
- Ensure proper handling and disposal of biomedical waste as per hospital protocols.
- Monitor inventory of reagents consumables and other laboratory supplies.
- Check expiry dates and proper storage conditions of laboratory materials.
- Guide and supervise junior laboratory technicians and support staff.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory SOPs infection control practices and safety protocols.
- Assist in internal audits external quality assessment and accreditation requirements.
- Coordinate with doctors nursing staff and other departments for smooth laboratory operations.
- Report equipment breakdowns quality issues and other operational concerns to the Lab In-charge.
Candidate Profile
- Qualification: B.Sc. MLT / B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Technology
- Experience: Minimum 5-10 years of relevant experience in a hospital or diagnostic laboratory.
- Experience in handling automated and semi-automated laboratory analyzers.
- Good knowledge of hematology biochemistry clinical pathology and sample processing.
- Knowledge of laboratory quality control and NABH-related practices.
- Ability to supervise junior staff and manage laboratory activities independently.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Robust attention to detail and accuracy.
- Willingness to work in rotational shifts including emergency
