The Junior R&D; Chemist supports lab-scale process development and optimisation across Flychem's portfolio of actives, emulsifiers, emollients, encapsulated products, rheology modifiers, silicones, humectants and UV filters. Projects run from bench through pilot scale-up to production transfer.

Key Responsibilities
- Run and optimise bench-scale processes, including synthesis, purification, peptide/bio-based material handling, fermentation workup, encapsulation and emulsifier development.
- Support analytical method development and testing (HPLC, GC, titration, KF, pH, viscosity, particle size) and interpret results against specifications.
- Operate lab and pilot equipment (reactors, homogenisers, rotary evaporators, filtration, centrifuges, dryers) with proper setup, calibration and logging.
- Support scale-up to pilot batches and technical transfer to production.
- Prepare GMP-compliant documentation: development reports, process instructions, specifications and batch records.
- Assist with raw material evaluation, supplier qualification, stability studies and deviation troubleshooting.
- Ensure work aligns with the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, Cosmetics Rules 2020, BIS standards and site EHS requirements.
Requirements
- M.Sc. in Chemistry / Organic / Industrial or Applied Chemistry, or B.Tech/M.Tech in Chemical Engineering or Biotechnology.
- 3 to 4 years of R&D; experience in cosmetic ingredients, specialty or fine chemicals, or a related sector.
- Hands-on HPLC/GC, wet-chemistry analysis and lab-scale organic synthesis.
- Exposure to bench-to-pilot scale-up and GMP documentation.
Nice to Have
- Experience with encapsulation, fermentation or bio-based materials.
- Familiarity with DoE, Indian cosmetic compliance and supplier qualification.
- Sound problem-solving, explicit technical writing, attention to detail, and good collaboration with QC, Regulatory, Production and EHS.
