Role Description The Journeyman Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Technician is a full-time, hybrid role based in Kolkata, with primary on-site responsibilities at the hotel and some tasks that may be completed from home. The technician maintains, repairs, and installs HVAC systems to ensure optimal comfort and safety for guests and colleagues. Daily activities include diagnosing equipment issues, performing preventive maintenance on heating and cooling systems, coordinating with other engineering and maintenance team members, and documenting all work completed.
The role may involve minor plumbing and electrical support related to HVAC equipment and adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards, including relevant EPA requirements.
The technician collaborates with hotel operations teams to minimize downtime, respond to service requests promptly, and support smooth hotel operations.
Qualifications
- Strong troubleshooting skills for HVAC systems, including diagnosing and resolving mechanical and control issues.
- Hands-on experience with plumbing tasks related to HVAC equipment, such as piping, drainage, and connections.
- Demonstrated ability in preventive maintenance, including scheduled inspections, cleaning, and parts replacement.
- Knowledge of EPA regulations and best practices for handling refrigerants and environmentally responsible operations.
- Understanding of electricity and electrical systems as they relate to HVAC units, controls, and safety procedures.
- Relevant technical certification or diploma in HVAC or mechanical/electrical engineering; journeyman-level qualification preferred.
- Experience in hotel, commercial, or large facility HVAC maintenance is an advantage.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and maintenance logs, with basic computer literacy for reporting.
- Strong communication skills, ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team, and commitment to guest-focused service.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed to support hotel operations.
