About the Opportunity
HummingBird is hiring a Java Application Developer on behalf of its Fortune 500 client , based in Bengaluru.
The Java Application Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and maintaining enterprise-grade applications that support critical business functions. The role will involve collaborating with architects, product teams, business analysts, QA engineers, DevOps teams, and other technology stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing applications.
The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, databases, and modern software development practices, along with experience working in large enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
Application Development
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise Java applications.
- Translate business and technical requirements into scalable and reliable software solutions.
- Develop clean, reusable, maintainable, and efficient code.
- Participate in the complete Software Development Life Cycle.
- Troubleshoot application issues and perform root-cause analysis.
- Contribute to application modernization and continuous improvement initiatives.
Java & Spring Development
- Develop applications using Java and Spring Boot/Spring Framework .
- Apply object-oriented programming principles and appropriate design patterns.
- Develop reusable business components and application services.
- Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Follow enterprise coding standards, architecture guidelines, and development best practices.
Microservices & API Development
- Design and develop RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Integrate applications with internal and external enterprise systems.
- Implement API security, authentication, authorization, validation, and error handling.
- Support API versioning, monitoring, and performance optimization.
- Contribute to modernization of monolithic applications into service-oriented or microservices architectures.
Database & Data Integration
- Develop and optimize SQL queries and database interactions.
- Work with relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server .
- Implement persistence solutions using JPA/Hibernate or similar frameworks.
- Troubleshoot database performance and integration issues.
- Ensure data integrity, consistency, and secure data handling.
Testing & Code Quality
- Develop unit, integration, and automated tests.
- Participate in peer code reviews and technical design reviews.
- Collaborate with QA teams to identify and resolve defects.
- Ensure applications meet defined quality, performance, security, and reliability standards.
- Promote test automation and continuous quality improvement.
Cloud & DevOps
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to support application build, deployment, and release processes.
- Work with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment tools.
- Support applications deployed in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud .
- Work with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Support application monitoring, logging, and production troubleshooting.
Agile & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with product managers, business analysts, architects, QA engineers, and DevOps teams.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Provide technical estimates and contribute to solution design discussions.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation.
- Mentor junior developers and contribute to engineering knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science,
Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 6–10 years of professional experience in Java application development.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java 8/11/17 or later .
- Strong experience with Spring Boot and Spring Framework .
- Experience developing RESTful APIs and enterprise applications.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and software architecture.
- Experience with relational databases and SQL.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
- Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working in large-scale enterprise technology environments is preferred.
