Product Owner Master Data Workflow
About the Role:
Master data workflows are how product, customer, and vendor data is requested, enriched, validated, approved, and distributed across Danones global landscape spanning Orsoft (master data system of entry), SAP ECC / S/4HANA, and the surrounding integration layer across Customer, Vendor, Materials and Finance MD domains.
As Product Owner for the Master Data Workflow, you deeply understand the needs of the requestors, data stewards, approvers, and downstream consumers who depend on these workflows, and you own the vision, roadmap, and backlog of the platform. You will Own workflow capabilities supporting Product, Customer, Vendor, and future master data domains across the enterprise . You are mandated by the organization and its stakeholders to turn that vision into a product that delivers maximum value to Danone and its business functions and you are accountable end-to-end for user satisfaction with the workflow product.
You own the what and the why. You define outcomes, prioritize the backlog, and decide what gets built and in what order.

Good to have experience in consumer goods, manufacturing, retail, or related industry domains
Technical Skills Required
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- 7+ years in enterprise IT&Data;, including proven experience as a Product Owner / Product Manager (or equivalent) owning the vision, roadmap, and backlog of a technical or platform product.
- Strong command of agile product ownership: backlog management and prioritization, writing user stories and acceptance criteria, release planning, and working in Scrum / Kanban / hybrid (SAFe an advantage).
- Sufficient domain fluency in SAP master data (material / product, customer, vendor) and in master-data workflow / BPM (e.g. Orsoft, SAP Business Workflow, SAP MDG) to prioritize credibly, shape requirements, and partner effectively with the technical Chapter — without needing to be the hands-on design authority.
- Demonstrated ability to translate business and data-governance needs into product outcomes and measurable value.
- Excellent stakeholder management across business and IT up to senior-management level; able to align priorities and to say “no” constructively.
- Outcome- and data-driven decision-making; comfortable prioritizing under constraints and ambiguity.
- Fluent English (written and spoken); effective in a global, multicultural, matrixed organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Product ownership of master-data, workflow, or platform products in a large, matrixed enterprise.
- Familiarity with Orsoft-based master data processes and with S/4HANA migration programs and their workflow implications — enough to prioritize and plan, not to configure.
- Understanding of data-governance operating models (data owners, stewards, councils) and how workflows operationalize them.
- Awareness of process mining, workflow analytics, and automation (RPA, low-code) as levers on the product roadmap.
- FMCG / CPG industry experience and its master-data characteristics (innovation cycles, regulatory attributes, customer hierarchies).
- Working knowledge of agile / hybrid delivery (Scrum, SAFe) and ITSM (ITIL) as it relates to product operations.
- Familiarity with enterprise integration patterns, APIs, event-driven architectures, and workflow orchestration across SAP and non-SAP ecosystems
Key Responsibilities
Product Vision & Strategy
- Define, communicate, and continuously evolve the vision and strategy for the Master Data Workflow, aligned to the MDM and IT&Data; strategy and to the needs of the business functions it serves.
- Translate business and data-governance objectives into a clear product direction and measurable outcomes (e.g. cycle-time, right-first-time quality, self-service adoption).
Backlog Management
- Own, maintain, and prioritize a single, transparent product backlog for the Workflow, spanning enhancement, project, and transformation demand.
- Make the prioritization calls — what is in, what is out, what waits — balancing value, risk, effort, and dependencies; define guardrails and functional scope for product extensions where the operating model requires them.
Requirement Gathering & Refinement
- Work closely with business process owners, data owners, and data stewards to gather, clarify, and refine requirements into well-formed backlog items and user stories.
- Ensure data-quality and governance needs are expressed as product requirements, in partnership with Data Governance and DQ teams.
Release Planning & Roadmapping
- Own the product roadmap and plan and prioritize releases with the squad and stakeholders.
- Manage the global roadmap and its communication — keeping stakeholders aligned on what is coming, when, and why.
Plan & Review
- Plan the work with the squad, then review and accept completed increments, demonstrating delivered value to stakeholders.
- Keep the backlog and product artefacts current for the applicable delivery framework (Scrum, Kanban, hybrid / waterfall).
Dependency Management
- Identify and manage dependencies — across Orsoft, SAP ECC / S/4HANA, the integration layer (e.g. Tibco),
and other products — that affect the platform’s success, coordinating and escalating through product and program governance as needed.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the primary liaison between the squad and stakeholders across Finance, Marketing, R&I;, and Supply Chain, ensuring needs, trade-offs, and decisions are understood on both sides.
- Represent the product in product-group, architecture, and program governance forums, and communicate value delivered to both technical and executive audiences.
Acceptance Criteria Definition
- Define clear acceptance criteria so the team knows when a requirement is complete and ready for release, safeguarding quality and fitness-for-purpose from the user’s perspective.
Continuous Improvement
- Actively seek feedback from stakeholders, squad members, and end-users to identify improvement opportunities, and foster adherence to product and agile best practices.
- Use adoption, quality, and performance signals to drive simplification and continuous improvement of the workflow product.
Workflow Governance
- Ensure workflow designs and approval processes align with Danone's Data Governance framework, stewardship model, segregation of duties, audit requirements, and compliance obligations.
- Partner with Data Governance teams to continuously improve stewardship experience and governance effectiveness.
Adoption & Change Management
- Drive adoption of workflow capabilities through stakeholder engagement, training needs identification, communications, and feedback management.
- Champion user experience improvements that increase compliance, efficiency, and self-service.
Automation & Innovation
- Identify opportunities to simplify and automate workflow activities through AI, workflow intelligence, low-code platforms, RPA, and business rules automation.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and their potential impact on workflow efficiency and user experience.

- Product vision and strategy for the Master Data Workflow.
- Product roadmap and product OKRs.
- A relevant, up-to-date, and prioritized product backlog.
