Job Title: Instrumentation & Controls Engineering Lead

Job Purpose:

Lead instrumentation and controls engineering for upstream, midstream, and downstream projects, covering instrument selection, control and safety systems, EPC contractor reviews, and operations support, while directing a team of I&C; engineers.

Mandatory Requirements:

- Experience:
- 15+ years in I&C; engineering in oil and gas, refining, or petrochemicals, with recent years as Lead.
- Selection and sizing of pressure, temperature, flow, and level instruments, control valves, and shutdown valves.
- DCS, SIS / ESD, F&G;, and PLC systems across the project lifecycle.
- Functional safety to IEC 61511, including SIL verification.
- Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering.
- Software:
- SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI / INtools), advanced.
- Control valve and flow element sizing tools (such as Conval or vendor software).
- AutoCAD and Navisworks.
- SAP and Excel-based data analysis (preferred).

Key Responsibilities:

- Discipline Leadership:
- Plan and allocate I&C; work and track man-hours, schedule, and quality.
- Act as technical authority and approve I&C; deliverables.
- Mentor engineers and designers.




- Engineering and Design:
- Develop instrument index, datasheets, specifications, and cause and effect diagrams.
- Prepare control narratives, loop diagrams, hook-ups, and layouts.
- Carry out technical bid evaluations and vendor document reviews.
- Control and Safety Systems:
- Support DCS, SIS, and PLC lifecycle management, including FAT and SAT.
- Apply functional safety and control system cybersecurity requirements (IEC 61511, IEC 62443).
- Contractor Interface:
- Coordinate discipline design work with EPC contractors.
- Review contractor submissions for compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Operations Support:
- Provide troubleshooting and reliability improvements for operating sites.
- Support instrument surveillance programmes, commissioning, turnarounds, and Management of Change.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Functional safety and cybersecurity certifications from recognised bodies.
- Machinery control systems and vibration monitoring.
- Custody transfer metering and analyzer systems.
- Owner or operator experience alongside EPC.
