Role Description The Halwai Commis is a full-time, on-site role based in Bengaluru South, responsible for preparing and assisting with traditional Indian sweets and desserts in accordance with hotel standards. Day-to-day tasks include measuring and mixing ingredients, cooking and finishing mithai and confectionery items, and ensuring consistency in taste, presentation, and quality. The role involves maintaining a clean, organized workstation, following hygiene and safety protocols,
and supporting senior chefs with mise en place and bulk production for restaurants, banquets, and events.
The Halwai
Commis will collaborate with the kitchen team to develop new sweet recipes, respond to special guest requests, and assist in inventory control by reporting stock levels and ingredient requirements.
Qualifications
- Strong Food Preparation and Cooking abilities, with a focus on traditional and contemporary Indian sweets.
- Solid Culinary Skills, including knowledge of ingredients, techniques, and kitchen equipment used in mithai production.
- Commitment to Hygiene and food safety standards, following hotel and regulatory guidelines.
- Effective Communication skills to coordinate with chefs, service teams, and other kitchen colleagues.
- Prior experience in a professional pastry, bakery, or halwai kitchen is preferred.
- Basic educational qualification; formal culinary training or certification is an advantage.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
- Attention to detail, reliability, and a passion for Indian confectionery and guest satisfaction.
