Summary

Nile Hospitality (www.nilehospitality.com) and Amrit Ocean (www.amritocean.com) is looking for experienced General Manager for Villa Blanca (www.hotelvbcostarica.com) a boutique cloud forest resort in Costa Rica entering a turnaround phase, and we are looking for a General Manager who wants to build something rather than maintain it. The property has real assets, a strong location, and an ownership group with the resources and patience to invest in the right operator. What it needs now is someone on the ground who can run it like an owner: tight on cost, aggressive on occupancy, and reliable about guest experience.

About the ownership group

Villa Blanca is affiliated with a diversified group with hospitality, wellness, and outsourcing operations across the United States, India, and Jamaica, and a growing footprint in Latin America. The group brings institutional discipline in finance and reporting to a property that has historically run without it, and the General Manager will have direct access to ownership rather than layers of corporate bureaucracy.

About the role

This property is currently running well below its potential, and the mandate is straightforward. Success in the first twelve months looks like a General Manager who has stabilized staffing costs against occupancy, built a real pipeline of retreat, wedding, and group business, and put basic reporting discipline in place so ownership can see what is actually happening in the business each month. This is not a caretaker assignment at an established, high occupancy resort.

It is a hands on operating role at a property that needs someone willing to work the phones, walk the grounds, and make the daily calls that move occupancy and cost at the same time.

What you will own

- Full property operations and the monthly P&L;, including staffing levels set against actual occupancy rather than fixed headcount
- Occupancy growth across the property's core revenue segments:



retreat and wellness buyouts, wedding buyouts, university field courses, corporate offsites from the Central Valley, and tour operator and birding partnerships
- Recruitment, training, and day to day leadership of the on property team across front office, food and beverage, housekeeping, spa, and grounds
- Cost discipline on the line items that have historically run high, including employee transport, professional services, and payment processing fees
- Guest experience and brand standards across the stay, from arrival through departure, including the spa and wellness packages and farm to table dining program
- Monthly performance reporting to ownership against budget, occupancy, and average daily rate targets
- Coordination with the group's central reservations and back office support function on booking flow and direct booking growth

What we are looking for

Required:

- Five or more years in a General Manager or senior operations leadership role at a resort, boutique hotel, or comparable hospitality property
- Direct, demonstrated ownership of a property level P&L;, including setting and managing a budget
- Experience managing staffing and cost levels through seasonal or occupancy driven swings in revenue
- Comfort operating in a lean, resource constrained environment where the General Manager is doing hands on work, not just directing others
- Fluent professional English
- Willingness to relocate to and live on site or near the property in the Monteverde region of Costa Rica

Preferred:

- Working or fluent Spanish
- Experience with retreat, wellness, or eco tourism properties specifically
- A track record of turning around or repositioning an underperforming property




- Background in food and beverage or spa operations
- Experience working with ownership groups based outside the property's home country

Compensation and relocation Per industry standard, commensurate with experience, plus performance incentives tied to occupancy and EBITDA targets. The role includes work permit sponsorship for Costa Rica, one way relocation flights, temporary housing support during transition, and on site or subsidized housing once settled. Final terms will be confirmed with the selected candidate before an offer is extended.

Location and work authorization

This is an on site role based at the property in the Monteverde region of Costa Rica. It is not remote and it is not a role that can be run from India or from a regional office. We are advertising this role to candidates currently based in India who are prepared to relocate to Costa Rica and take on full residential responsibility for the property. Ownership will support the work permit and relocation process for the selected candidate.
