Need to hire a General Manager - Marketing (Pharma) Himalaya is looking to appoint an innovative General Manager - Marketing for their Pharma Business.

The incumbent will work closely with Business Director - Healthcare to develop and execute its core 360 Pharma marketing strategy and nurture and grow the marketing function.

The pharmaceutical market consists of a large degree of regulation and administrative oversight as well as the involvement of multiple decision makers and internal and external stakeholders. Hence the importance of strong Marketing campaigns and innovation for both Himalaya and GM- Pharma Marketing cannot be overstated.

Albeit

Himalaya’s pharma products have been developed as prescription drugs, over the years some of them have gained such huge popularity (example Liv 52) that they have attained OTC status on their own. Hence GM - Pharma Marketing - needs to have a very astute approach as the target audience are a mix of end users, influencers, retailers. With the accelerating penetration of online sales (market place, e-pharmacies and quickcom), the role of performance marketing and digital content is equally important.

GM-Marketing will be responsible for both marketing and publications functions and be based at Bangalore and reporting into the Business Director - Healthcare, Vikas Bansi

Role Dimensions Deep Patient, Customer, HCP and KOL understanding - The Marketing head should have constant connect with the market to plan sharp In Clinic and out Clinic messaging. This entails a constant analysis of the market, planning and implementation of new marketing strategies to attract target audiences and in the process facilitating achievement of organization-wide objectives, such as market share, revenue and sales volume across channels.

Constant and periodic outreach programs to various external bodies and decision makers will also form the crux of the overall strategy.

Product Life Cycle Management

Himalaya’s pharma products occupy the entire time scale / range of a typical product’s life cycle. Though the company has been constantly innovating and launching a slew of new products, few legacy brands need to be accelerated on volume growth. (example:



Liv 52, Bonnisan, Septilin). These products require different marketing strategies at different times if sales and profits are to be efficiently realized.

GM-Marketing must identify the life cycle stages for each of these products and formulate effective measures to maximize sales and profits.

Also, some of Himalaya’s marquee products have crossed medicinal borders and are prescribed by both allopathic and ayurvedic doctors. It is imperative for GM-Marketing to take cognizant of this aspect while formulating marketing strategy, outreach programs etc.

Leveraging Data

Over the years, various departments of Himalaya have had access to masses of data from marketing campaigns, constant monitoring of the market as well as the data gathered by R&D;, sales and customer service. All of this data provides valuable insight into future marketing trends encompassing patients, doctors, retailers and competition. Data and analytics will play an important factor in the management of the marketing plan.

GM-Marketing will analyze and leverage these analyses in tweaking the marketing plan to accommodate future trends and stay ahead of competition.

Managing the Publications

Himalaya publishes (1) Magazines for internal communication and (2) Magazines / Journals for external communications (aimed at Doctors, Institutes and other influencers). The publications team consists of 10 people. GM-Marketing will give constant inputs to develop highly relevant and engaging magazines to sustain internal and external interest in Himalaya’s activities.

New Product Launches, Collaboration with other departments

Pharma product launches require constant collaboration between sales, marketing, R&D;, supply chain, packaging, manufacturing and finance functions.



The GM-Marketing will work closely with all relevant business leaders, plan and execute recent product launches in line with various geographic requirements.

The marketing function will form the crux of the system and it is imperative that GM Marketing develops and nurtures an excellent relationship with all the key personnel. Ultimately the marketing team will work closely with the Sales team; enabling them to meet their commercial objectives by providing them with appropriate tools, materials and presentations.

People Management

Including the publishing team, the total strength of the marketing team is 30. GM-Marketing is responsible for the welfare and career growth of the team. He / She will set a vision and channelize the entire team to achieve the business objectives. By his / her own example, will create a highly engaging work culture where people achieve the company’s objectives along with their own career objectives.

Ideal Candidate

- A pharma / science graduate with an MBA having more than 18-20 years of experience in Marketing of Pharma / Wellness products.
- Exposure to sales management along the way will be an added advantage.
- Should be very familiar with external universe of Doctors (both Ayurvedic and Allopathic), Hospitals/Institutes, Regulatory Bodies, Associations and Trade Organizations.
- Should have a track record of launching, building and nurturing powerful brands.
- Managing a large portfolio of brands and the ability to Segment markets and Develop relevant positioning strategies.

- Development of targeted media communication and ability to manage external service providers like Advertising and Media agencies. Understand consumer behavior and research to form strategy. Innovation in communication strategy

- Knowledge of developing trade and consumer activation programs
- Experience of handling a large business size and marketing portfolio would be preferred.
- Experience in new product planning, NPD, New Product Launch.

- Good people management skills along with strong collaborative skills with stakeholders
- Strong understanding of Digital and e-commerce ecosystem
