At GameGenesis, we're looking for a creative and gameplay-focused Game Level Designer Intern to help design engaging levels and gameplay experiences across our projects.
You'll work with game designers, artists, and developers to turn concepts into playable spaces — from layout and pacing to player flow, challenges, and environmental storytelling.

Your Mission
- Design and prototype engaging game levels and gameplay spaces.
- Create level layouts, player routes, objectives, challenges, and encounters.
- Develop blockouts/prototypes to test gameplay before final art production.
- Balance difficulty, pacing, exploration, and player progression.
- Design spaces that encourage meaningful player decisions and interactions.
- Collaborate with artists, programmers, and game designers to bring levels to life.
- Playtest levels and identify gameplay, pacing, and navigation issues.
- Iterate on levels based on playtesting and team feedback.
- Use environmental storytelling and level composition to support the game's experience.
- Document level designs, gameplay logic, and design decisions.

- Understands basic game design and level design principles.
- Has a positive understanding of player flow, pacing, difficulty, and progression.
- Can create clear and functional level layouts.
- Has an understanding of gameplay mechanics and how environments support them.
- Is comfortable creating easy prototypes or blockouts.
- Has strong spatial awareness and attention to detail.
- Enjoys analyzing games and understanding why certain levels work.
- Is creative, curious, and open to feedback.
- Can communicate ideas clearly and work with a remote team.
- Has a genuine passion for games and interactive experiences.

It'll Be Awesome If You Also Have
- Experience with Unity or Unreal Engine.
- Familiarity with Unreal Engine Level Editor or Unity's level-building workflow.
- Knowledge of Blueprints, basic scripting, or visual scripting.
- Experience with greyboxing/blockout workflows.
- Understanding of game metrics, player psychology, or difficulty balancing.
- Experience designing levels for FPS, RPG, action, puzzle, or multiplayer games.
- Knowledge of environmental storytelling.
- A portfolio containing level designs, game prototypes, maps, or personal projects.
- Experience with tools such as Tiled, Blender, Photoshop, or Figma.
