Freelance Video Editor / Motion Graphics EditorBack Home Network is looking for an experienced freelance Video Editor / Motion Graphics Editor to support the development of long-form, sports-focused digital content.

This role will focus on transforming provided scripts and footage into polished, visually compelling video essays approximately 10–20 minutes in length.

We're looking for an editor with strong creative instincts who can take a finished script and footage and independently bring the story to life through editing, B-roll, motion graphics, animation, sound design, and other visual elements.

Responsibilities

- Edit 10–20 minute sports-focused video essays
- Independently source and incorporate relevant B-roll, archival footage, imagery, and other visual assets
- Create original motion graphics, animations, titles, and graphic elements
- Develop creative visual treatments for statistics, quotes, historical context, and other information
- Use strong editorial judgment to determine how scripts and stories should be represented visually
- Incorporate music and sound design to enhance pacing and storytelling
- Perform color correction and audio cleanup as needed
- Collaborate through feedback and revisions to deliver polished, publication-ready videos
- Manage projects independently and meet agreed-upon deadlines

Qualifications
- 3+ years of qualified video editing experience
- Strong video editing and motion graphics skills
- Demonstrated experience editing long-form digital content, video essays, documentary-style content, sports content, or similar work
- Strong understanding of visual storytelling, pacing, and audience engagement
- Ability to independently source and select compelling B-roll and visual assets
- Ability to create original motion graphics and visual elements
- Strong creative judgment and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Reliable communication and ability to meet deadlines
- Familiarity with sports and sports storytelling is preferred





Style & Creative DirectionWe're looking for an editor who understands modern, visually driven video storytelling. Examples of the type of work and creative approach we're drawn to include content from Vox, Jon Bois / Secret Base, Joon Lee, and Bleacher Report. We're particularly interested in a combination of:

- Strong narrative pacing and visual storytelling
- Creative use of archival footage and B-roll
- Motion graphics and animated visual elements
- Data, statistics, maps, timelines, and information presented in visually interesting ways
- Photography, headlines, documents, and other source material incorporated creatively into the edit
- Thoughtful music and sound design
- Visuals that continually support and advance the story rather than simply filling space over narration

These references are intended as examples of the level and type of storytelling we're interested in, not as styles that need to be directly replicated. We're looking for someone who can bring their own creative perspective to the work. Role DetailsThis is a remote, freelance/contract position with projects expected on a bi-weekly to monthly basis, with the potential for ongoing work.

Compensation: ₹8,000–₹12,000 per completed video, depending on experience, portfolio, and the scope of the individual project.

Typical videos will be approximately 10–20 minutes in length. Scripts and primary footage will be provided, while the editor will be responsible for sourcing or creating the additional visual elements necessary to complete the video.
