About the Role

Sterling & Wilson Datacenter Pvt. Ltd. is looking for an experienced Design Manager – Electrical to lead electrical design and engineering activities for Data Center and Mission Critical projects.

The role will be responsible for leading the electrical design team, managing engineering deliverables, reviewing and approving technical designs, coordinating with clients and consultants, supporting procurement and construction teams, and ensuring compliance with project specifications, applicable codes and engineering standards.

The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in Electrical Design Management, Power Distribution, HV/LV Systems, SLDs, Load Calculations, Transformer & DG Systems, UPS, Switchgear, Protection Systems, Cable Sizing, Earthing, Lightning Protection and Lighting Design, along with strong team leadership and stakeholder management experience.

Key Responsibilities1. Engineering Design Leadership

- Lead electrical engineering design activities for Data Center, Mission Critical, industrial, commercial and infrastructure projects.
- Review and approve electrical engineering deliverables including:
- Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)
- Load calculations
- Load schedules
- Cable sizing and routing
- Power distribution layouts
- Earthing and lightning protection systems
- Lighting systems
- DB schedules
- Control and interface drawings
- Ensure designs are technically sound, coordinated and suitable for project execution.
- Review electrical system architecture and equipment sizing.
- Ensure electrical designs support reliability, redundancy and operational requirements of critical facilities.

1. Power Distribution & Electrical Systems

Provide technical leadership for:
- HV/LV Power Distribution
- Transformers
- DG / Generator Systems
- HT/LT Switchgear
- PCC / MCC
- UPS & Battery Systems
- Protection Relays
- Distribution Boards
- Cable Systems
- Cable Trays
- Earthing & Lightning Protection
- Lighting Systems

1. Engineering Calculations & Technical Reviews

Lead or review:
- Electrical Load Calculations
- Load Flow Studies
- Short Circuit Studies
- Voltage Drop Calculations
- Cable Sizing Calculations
- Protection Coordination Studies
- Equipment Sizing
- Arc Flash Analysis, wherever applicable

Ensure calculations are technically accurate and aligned with project requirements.
1. Engineering Planning & Project Management

- Develop engineering execution plans and design schedules.
- Monitor engineering deliverables, milestones and priorities.
- Coordinate design activities with overall project schedules.
- Manage design risks, interfaces and technical dependencies.
- Ensure timely completion of engineering deliverables.




- Monitor engineering resources and workload across projects.

1. Team Management

- Lead, mentor and develop electrical engineers, designers and BIM teams.
- Allocate resources and responsibilities across projects.
- Review team performance and technical output.
- Identify capability gaps and training requirements.
- Promote quality, safety and continuous improvement within the design team.

1. Design Review & Quality Assurance

- Conduct technical and interdisciplinary design reviews.
- Ensure engineering deliverables comply with:
- Client specifications
- Project requirements
- Applicable codes and standards
- Company engineering procedures
- Ensure proper documentation and revision control.
- Review design changes and technical deviations.
- Implement engineering best practices and lessons learned.

1. Client & Stakeholder Management

- Act as a key technical contact for electrical design matters.
- Participate in client and consultant design review meetings.
- Address technical comments and design queries.
- Coordinate with:
- Clients
- Consultants
- Project Managers
- Construction Teams
- Procurement Teams
- Vendors
- Contractors
- Internal Engineering Teams

1. Vendor & Procurement Support

- Review vendor technical offers and specifications.
- Participate in technical bid evaluations.
- Review and approve vendor drawings and technical documents.
- Provide technical inputs for procurement of:
- Transformers
- Switchgear
- PCC / MCC
- UPS Systems
- DG / Generator Systems
- Cables
- Electrical accessories and equipment
- Coordinate with vendors for technical clarifications and compliance.

1. Construction & Commissioning Support

- Provide technical support during construction and installation.
- Resolve design-related site issues and RFIs.
- Review site modifications and engineering change requests.
- Support testing and commissioning activities.
- Provide technical support during system energization.
- Ensure construction teams execute as per approved design.

1. Budget & Cost Optimization

- Monitor engineering resource utilization and design budgets.
- Support project estimation and proposal engineering.
- Identify opportunities for design optimization and value engineering.
- Optimize designs without compromising safety, reliability, quality or statutory requirements.

Ensure electrical engineering designs comply with relevant:
- IEC Standards
- IEEE Standards

- NFPA
- IS Standards
- Local electrical regulations
- Client specifications

- Protection systems
- Electrical reliability and availability
- Design coordination for mission-critical facilities

Candidate Profile
- B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering.
- 12–20 years of relevant Electrical Design / Engineering experience.
- Strong experience leading electrical design teams and managing engineering deliverables.
- Proven experience in electrical system design, technical review and project coordination.
- Strong knowledge of electrical calculations, power distribution and protection systems.
- Experience handling clients, consultants, vendors and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong knowledge of IEC / IEEE / NEC / NFPA / IS standards.
- Strong team management and stakeholder management skills.
- Data Center / Mission Critical project experience will be highly preferred.
