Design & Development Engineer AayuTech Precision Industries

Role Purpose

Responsible for the complete design and development of checking fixtures, welding fixtures, jigs, gauges and special-purpose fixtures as per customer requirements, ensuring functionality, manufacturability, accuracy, quality and cost effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design & Engineering

- Prepare 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings of customer products/parts for jigs, fixtures, checking fixtures and gauges.
- Develop fixture concepts based on customer 2D/3D data and technical requirements.
- Prepare detailed 3D & 2D data for jig and fixture manufacturing, including locating, clamping, checking and functional features.
- Apply GD&T;, datum schemes, tolerances and fixture design principles as required. Study c 2D/3D data, specifications and RFQ requirements.
- Develop concepts for checking fixtures, welding fixtures, jigs and gauges.
- Prepare 3D models, assemblies and detailed manufacturing drawings.
- Apply GD&T;, 3-2-1 locating principles, tolerance stack-up and datum concepts.
- Select suitable materials, standard components, pneumatic components, pins, bushes, clamps, etc.

1. New Product Development

- Develop new fixture concepts based on customer requirements.
- Review design for functionality, accessibility, ergonomics and poka-yoke.
- Conduct design reviews and incorporate customer/BSTO comments.
- Support prototype development, trials and proving.

1. Manufacturing Support

- Release manufacturing drawings/BOM to production.
- Clarify design-related issues during fabrication and machining.
- Coordinate with manufacturing, quality and purchase teams.
- Ensure design is practical for manufacturing and assembly.

1. Fixture Validation

- Support fixture trials and customer proving.
- Analyze dimensional deviations and implement design improvements.




- Support Gauge R&R; / MSA activities where applicable.
- Ensure final fixture meets geometry, function and quality requirements.

1. Customer Coordination

- Understand technical requirements directly from customers.
- Participate in technical discussions and design reviews.
- Prepare concept presentations and technical clarifications.
- Incorporate customer feedback within agreed timelines.

1. Design Development & Improvement

- Develop cost-effective and standardized design solutions.
- Maintain standard design practices, templates and component libraries.
- Identify opportunities for design simplification and reduction in manufacturing lead time.
- Maintain design records, revisions and engineering documentation.

Required Skills

- Strong knowledge of BIW fixtures, checking fixtures, welding fixtures and gauges
- Positive understanding of GD&T; and dimensional tolerancing
- Knowledge of 3-2-1 locating and fixture design principles
- Proficiency in CATIA / UG-NX / SolidWorks / AutoCAD or relevant CAD software
- Understanding of machining, fabrication, welding and assembly processes
- Basic knowledge of pneumatics and automation is preferred
- Ability to read and interpret customer 2D/3D data
- Good problem-solving and communication skills

Suggested Experience Experience: 37 years in automotive/BIW fixture design and development.

hands-on exposure from concept design manufacturing trial proving, rather than someone who has only done CAD modelling.
