Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate, creative, and student-centred Dance & Drama Teacher to join our IB school. The successful candidate will inspire students to develop their creativity, confidence, communication, physical expression, collaboration, and performance skills through dance, drama, and theatre.
The teacher will contribute to the school’s Performing Arts programme and create engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences that encourage students to explore performance, movement, storytelling, identity, culture, and creative expression in alignment with the IB philosophy.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging Dance and Drama lessons for students across assigned age groups.
- Develop learning experiences aligned with relevant IB frameworks and the school’s Performing Arts curriculum.
- Teach age-appropriate skills in:
- Dance technique and movement
- Drama and theatre
- Acting and characterisation
- Improvisation
- Storytelling
- Script work
- Choreography
- Creative movement
- Stagecraft and performance
- Introduce students to a diverse range of theatrical and dance traditions, genres, cultures, and performance styles.
- Encourage students to develop original ideas through improvisation, choreography, devising, and creative performance.
- Use inquiry-based, experiential, collaborative, and student-centred teaching approaches.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse abilities, learning needs, and interests of students.
- Develop students’ confidence, communication, body awareness, creativity, collaboration, and presentation skills.
- Teach students to analyse, reflect on, and respond to performances and artistic works.
- Assess and document student learning using appropriate formative and summative assessment strategies.
- Prepare students for school productions, assemblies, concerts, festivals, competitions, and other performances.
- Direct and/or choreograph school plays, musicals, dance performances, and theatrical productions as required.
- Conduct rehearsals and coordinate students involved in productions.
- Lead extracurricular dance, drama, theatre, or performing arts clubs.
- Collaborate with Music, Visual Arts, English, and other subject teachers on interdisciplinary projects and productions.
- Incorporate diverse cultural perspectives and forms of artistic expression into teaching and performance.
- Create an inclusive, respectful, safe, and supportive environment for all students.
- Encourage students to demonstrate creativity, communication, collaboration, reflection, and intercultural understanding.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate appropriately with parents and colleagues.
- Participate in school events, curriculum planning, professional development, and wider school initiatives.
- Follow school safeguarding, child-protection, health, and safety policies.
Dance Expertise Experience in one or more of the following is desirable:
- Contemporary
- Ballet
- Jazz
- Hip-hop / Street Dance
- Indian Classical Dance
- Indian Folk / Traditional Dance
- Bollywood / Commercial Dance
- Modern / Creative Movement
- Musical Theatre
Drama & Theatre Expertise Experience in the following areas is desirable:
- Acting and performance

- Voice and speech
- Physical theatre
- Stage movement
- Theatre production
- Directing
- Stagecraft and basic production management
- Musical theatre
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree/diploma in Performing Arts, Theatre, Drama, Dance, Dance Education, or a related field.
- Recognised teaching qualification is preferred.
- Formal training and/or professional experience in Dance and Drama/Theatre.
- Demonstrated experience teaching performing arts to children or young people.
- Strong practical knowledge of dance, drama, choreography,
acting, and performance.
Preferred IB Experience
- Previous experience working in an IB School is desirable.
- Familiarity with PYP Performing Arts, depending on the role.
- Understanding of inquiry-based and concept-driven learning.
- Ability to connect performing arts with concepts such as identity, culture, communication, creativity, perspective, and global contexts.
- Experience with IB assessment practices is an advantage.
- IB workshop/training experience is desirable.

Experience Preferred: 1–2 years of relevant Dance, Drama, Theatre, or Performing Arts teaching experience, preferably in an international or IB school.
Candidates with strong professional performing arts backgrounds and demonstrated teaching experience may also be considered.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
