1. Job Title & Summary
We are looking for a sharp, analytical, and highly responsible Credit Executive to join our Credit & Risk team for our Payday Loan / Short-Term Digital Lending business. The Credit Executive will be responsible for evaluating high-volume retail loan applications and making timely, accurate, and policy-compliant credit decisions. The role requires a strong understanding of salaried borrower profiles, credit bureau reports, bank statements, income verification, fraud indicators, alternative data, and digital underwriting processes.
The ideal candidate should be capable of balancing fast turnaround times with prudent credit risk assessment, while maintaining high standards of accuracy, customer fairness, data confidentiality, and regulatory compliance.
1. Key ResponsibilitiesCredit Assessment & Underwriting
- Review and assess applications for payday loans, salary advances, and other short-term unsecured retail credit products.
- Evaluate applicants against the Company's approved Credit Policy, underwriting criteria, eligibility rules, and risk appetite.
- Analyse credit bureau reports, repayment history, credit enquiries, outstanding obligations, delinquencies, write-offs, settlements, DPDs and other relevant credit indicators.
- Review applicants' banking history, account behaviour, salary credits, cash flows, existing EMIs and other financial obligations.
- Assess borrower repayment capacity by evaluating income, existing debt obligations and disposable income.
- Use available alternative data and digital signals as permitted under Company policy and applicable regulations to strengthen credit assessment.
- Approve, reject, hold or recommend applications within the delegated credit authority and defined approval matrix.
- Escalate borderline, high-risk or policy-deviation cases to the Credit Manager or appropriate approving authority.
Income & Employment Verification
- Verify salary slips, bank statements, employment details and other income-related documents.
- Cross-check declared income against actual salary credits and banking behaviour.
- Identify inconsistencies between application information, KYC records, bureau information and financial documents.
- Conduct or coordinate employment verification wherever required under the underwriting process.
Fraud Detection & Risk Control
- Identify potential fraud indicators including manipulated documents, identity mismatches, suspicious banking patterns, multiple applications, synthetic identities and inconsistent borrower information.
- Flag suspected fraud or misrepresentation for enhanced verification and further investigation.
- Work closely with Fraud Risk, Operations,
Collections and Compliance teams to identify emerging fraud patterns.
- Maintain vigilance against application stacking, identity misuse and deliberate concealment of existing financial obligations.
Digital & Automated Underwriting
- Work effectively with Loan Origination Systems (LOS), Loan Management Systems (LMS), automated underwriting engines, credit bureau platforms and digital verification tools.
- Review system-generated risk scores, rule-engine outputs and policy flags before making or recommending credit decisions.
- Understand exceptions generated by automated underwriting systems and ensure manual overrides, where permitted, are appropriately documented and justified.
- Provide feedback to the Credit/Risk team on recurring rejection patterns, system rules and opportunities to improve underwriting efficiency.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure all credit decisions comply with the Company's Credit Policy, KYC/AML requirements, Fair Practices Code, customer-protection standards and applicable lending regulations.
- Follow applicable RBI directions and digital lending requirements and other regulatory requirements relevant to the Company's lending activities.
- Ensure customer information is accessed and used only for legitimate underwriting purposes and handled in accordance with applicable privacy and data-protection requirements.
- Maintain clear and complete documentation supporting credit decisions and exceptions.
- Follow the Company's delegated authority matrix without unauthorized deviations.
- Support internal audits, compliance reviews and portfolio-quality reviews by maintaining accurate underwriting records.
Portfolio & Process Monitoring
- Monitor underwriting quality, approval rates, rejection trends, early delinquency indicators and other assigned credit metrics.
- Identify recurring risk patterns and communicate observations to the Credit Manager.
- Participate in periodic portfolio reviews and provide inputs for refinement of credit policies and underwriting rules.
- Maintain required Turnaround Time (TAT) without compromising underwriting quality or regulatory compliance.
1. Required Skills & Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Banking or a related discipline.
- MBA/PGDM in Finance, Banking or Risk Management would be an advantage but is not mandatory.
Experience
- Preferably 1–3 years of experience in credit underwriting, consumer lending, fintech, NBFC, personal loans,
payday/salary advance products, microfinance or other unsecured retail lending.
- Experience underwriting salaried retail borrowers and short-tenure unsecured loans will be strongly preferred.
- Candidates with relevant experience in high-volume digital lending or subprime/near-prime customer segments will have an advantage.
Technical Knowledge Candidates should have working knowledge of:
- Credit bureau reports and credit scores

Familiarity with API-based verification, Account Aggregator data, digital KYC, bureau platforms or fintech underwriting systems would be an added advantage.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
