About the Role

We’re looking for a reliable and experienced Cook to manage the daily preparation of simple, wholesome, and sattvic meals for the residents, students, and guests at Shala Gurukulam.

The role involves preparing meals for approximately 60–70 people, while maintaining consistency, hygiene, cleanliness, and quality in every meal.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare simple, fresh, and wholesome sattvic meals for 60–70 people.
- Plan and prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner, and other meals as required.
- Follow the Gurukulam’s dietary guidelines and maintain consistency in food preparation.
- Manage large-batch cooking while maintaining taste and quality.
- Ensure proper hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety standards in the kitchen.
- Plan ingredient requirements and coordinate grocery and kitchen supplies.
- Maintain kitchen equipment, utensils, and overall cleanliness of the kitchen.
- Minimise food wastage and use ingredients efficiently.
- Coordinate with the operations team regarding daily menus, meal timings,



and special requirements.

You’re a Great Fit If You:

- Have 1+ year of experience as a Cook, preferably in a residential, hospitality, ashram, retreat, or similar environment.
- Are comfortable cooking for 60–70 people at scale.
- Have experience preparing simple Indian vegetarian food.
- Understand or are willing to learn the principles of sattvic cooking.
- Are comfortable working with basic, fresh, seasonal ingredients.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
- Are organised, punctual, dependable, and comfortable working independently.
- Have a calm and respectful approach suited to a Gurukulam environment.
- Are willing to relocate to and work on-site in Shimla.
