Role Summary
Independently develops technically complete engineering deliverables for assigned packages and coordinates their interfaces. The role applies this accountability within Solar PV.
Key Responsibilities
- Own defined engineering packages from input review through calculations, drawings, models, specifications, and issue documentation.
- Interpret design basis, client requirements, codes, utility criteria, and vendor information; identify deviations and missing inputs.
- Perform point-to-point checks and engineering reasonableness checks of calculations, software results, and automated outputs.
- Coordinate cross-discipline interfaces, resolve routine conflicts, and document design decisions.
- Support client and vendor queries, quantities, design revisions, and construction-stage technical responses within delegated authority.
Role-Specific Discipline Scope
- Utility-scale solar plant electrical design, including DC stringing, inverter blocks, LVAC/MVAC collection, single-line diagrams, and equipment ratings.
- Cable sizing, ampacity, voltage drop, routing, schedules, grounding, lightning protection, and equipment/BOM quantities.
- Plant layouts, design-basis and construction packages, and CAD/KMZ/GIS deliverables aligned with survey and site constraints.
- Inverter, transformer, tracker, civil, structural, BESS, PSS, substation/HV,
and T-Line interfaces.
- Validation of design calculations, vendor inputs, and automation outputs before release.
Qualifications and Experience Guidance Education: B.Tech/B.E. in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or another directly relevant engineering discipline from a recognized university.
Experience: Typically 3-6 years of relevant engineering experience, including independent delivery of defined design packages.
Knowledge: Applicable codes, client/utility requirements, constructability, quality controls, and multidisciplinary interfaces at a depth appropriate to the level.
Technical Skills / Software
Core tools: AutoCAD; Microsoft Excel; Google Earth Pro/KMZ tools; GIS tools as applicable; PVsyst or comparable solar-performance tools where assigned; approved calculation and document-management systems.
Expected proficiency: Practical proficiency in the tools used for assigned deliverables, including input checking and interpretation of outputs.
Reporting / Accountability
Reporting: Typically reports to an Assistant Manager, Deputy Manager, or project Engineering Lead.
Accountability: Accountable for the technical completeness, coordination, quality, and schedule of assigned deliverables through review and comment closure.
